RunDisney Paris Trip – Day 1 and 5K!

And I’m blogging yet another Disney trip! I’m gonna do a separate post on the Run Disney pasta party, which was technically our first day in the parks, so I’m gonna start with Saturday.

Of course the day started with the Run Disney 5K. We were in corral B, and running as a whole family (Mum and Hannah included), it was a gentle pace but that was exactly what I needed following my foot injury earlier in the week. The course was perfect, very much park based with just a small amount of backstage, and packed with characters and photo ops. We finished in around 45 minutes, and were greeted at the finish line by Donald, Daisy and Pluto which was so nice – I’ve never met characters at a finish line before!

After walking back to the hotel, grabbing breakfast and having showers and a bit of rest, we headed into the Disneyland Park just after 10am opening. First on the agenda was Pirates of the Caribbean, followed by Phantom Manor. The park’s Halloween decorations are just creeping out so I’m in my element getting lots of photos!
We grabbed a drink at Casey’s Corner and wandered the shops for a little while while waiting for my sister to arrive in the park having had a post-race nap, and then went for lunch at Cafe Hyperion. Full of nuggets, next stop was Its a Small World, which actually had a pretty long queue, but as I haven’t done it on my last two trips it needed to be done! Then it was time for our Fastpasses for Buzz, so we did that, then went and got an ice cream from Gibson Girl, before deciding to do a round trip on the Disneyland Railroad.

As the wait for the train was pretty long, by the time we’d done the full circuit it was gone 5pm, and my parents and sister headed to the Disneyland Hotel to meet a friend of my mum, while I stayed in the parks to watch Magic on Parade. I had originally planned on watching it from near the start of the route, but ended up outside City Hall as it was already getting pretty busy and I found a decent spot.

After the parade, I met up with the lovely Gaetane to shoot my Its a Small World outfit (stay tuned for this!); it was really cool to get to meet her and chat Disney for a little while, then we parted ways as I reunited with the family for dinner at Bistrot Chez Remy – cos where else would you celebrate a Ratatouille themed 5K?!

Full of fuel, it was back to the hotel for rest and an early night before the half marathon the following morning!
