Why Can’t I Write Anymore?

I tell you something, the number of times that I have opened up a new blog post to write something, only to stare at the screen for 10 minutes, then find something else to do to distract myself from it and eventually close it again in the last few weeks is unreal. I even sit with my blog planner to brainstorm new post ideas and my brain is just empty. It sucks.

I swear this always happens when I actually have the time to write. Now I’m self-employed and working from home, I thought I’d have so much more time to dedicate to my blog, rather than just cramming it into evenings and weekends, but I’m actually just finding so many other things that are taking up my time, and even when I do sit down to blog, I’m hit with a brick wall of no inspiration.

I guess the fact is that maybe I just don’t have anything to write about right now. In the last month I haven’t really bought any new products to review, as most of my money has gone into house things, and I’ve been so back and forth between Bournemouth and Cheshire that I haven’t really got out and about either, plus with Matthew being away for the last 6 weeks, progression on house decorating has been fairly non-existent. I guess maybe my life has been too boring to be a lifestyle blogger.

The good news, however, is that next week I’ll be in Disneyland Paris, so there’ll be 4 days of live trip blogging, plus hopefully a trip away will bring back some inspiration for new content! I’m also taking a little bit of time away from working this week while Matthew is home, so maybe if I’m not using up all my creativity at my sewing machine I’ll have a little bit more juice to put into blogging. Maybe now I’ve ranted about my inability to write, the universe will send some ideas my way. Who knows, right?

Anyone else go through major writers block phases?

  1. Very honest post. Well written too!

I’d love for you to check my new post out and let me know your thoughts; 💗butterfliesandboundaries.wordpress.com/2018/09/04/the-aftermath/

  2. Have fun in Disneyland! I think everyone goes through creative slumps. Honestly, in order to be creative you need to have conditions *just right* or nothing comes out. Just don’t pressure yourself, take some time to recentre your creative self, and then let it all flow free ❤

  3. I suffer from writers block sometimes and want helps me more than anything is taking a break. Don’t try and force it or it will get worse.

  4. Hey Lottie, you are not alone. I too go through writer’s block phases where I just do not know what to write. Inspiration is all around us, if you look, you just might see it. Inspiration also comes from within, sometimes we need to dig deeper to find it. Inspiration also comes from the Lord. I have prayed for inspiration at times, and I have had ideas come to my mind. God is real and prayers work. Unlike we humans, all the knowledge that exists is accessible to the Lord. He is the Lord of divine inspiration, and one of sound knowledge. You can pray about anything and expect an answer from the Lord, you know why? because the Lord has dominion over all things. If you do not mind trying, I would suggest that you pray concerning this. In addition, I would like to say, God is very beneficial for a lot of things in life, not only the writer’s block. Everything from getting a good job, to finding the right significant other, to being financially successful etc., It is all under God’s domain.

The Bible says in Philippians 4:6
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done”.

If you do not yet have a relationship with the Lord, I would strongly suggest that you begin one. There are a lot of blessings that comes from knowing the Lord, and being in fellowship with him. If you already have a relationship with the Lord, that is good, keep believing and working to deepen your relationship with him, and I am sure that he would come through for you somehow.

May God’s blessings be with you, Amen. ❤ ❤
