What I Got For Christmas 2018

I don’t know if its too late to write this post and for people to still be interested, but if you fancy a little nosey at my Christmas gifts, then this is the post for you!

Part of the reason that this post is coming a little late is because for the first time ever, I spent Christmas away from my family, so I only exchanged gifts with some people yesterday when I was in Bournemouth for New Years, so now I finally have a full collection of wonderful gifts, and here they are:

For starters, who doesn’t LOVE the Lush Christmas products? My year revolves around when I’ll be able to get my hands on some Snow Fairy again, and because Matthew knows this, he bought be the BIGGEST bottle of Snow Fairy shower gel I’ve ever seen (its bigger than my head), as well as the new Snow Fairy body spray so I can smell like a Lush store all year round. I also got a couple of other bits from both Matthew and my mum, including the Rudolph jelly face mask which I can’t wait to try out! And what’s that in the corner you ask?

That would be my ADORABLE new activewear from Chrissa Sparkles! I’ve had my eye on these sprinkles leggings for about a year now, and back in November they announced that they would be discontinued, so I begged Matthew to buy them for me before they left, and I’ve had the torture of knowing that they were in the house but I couldn’t have them until Christmas Day. I’m so ready to look like a cupcake threw up on me at the gym.

Of course there was a healthy helping of Disney goodies, including a Disneyland Paris spirit jersey from my parents, the beautiful Sorcerer Mickey Pandora charm from Matthew and the Mickey Mouse Museum book from my nan which is full of amazing Disney artwork from through the years.

The little Potter nerd in me LOVES these beautiful books of the Fantastic Beasts film screenplays, and this little rat is, in fact, a Scabbers lip balm – I mean who knew that existed, but I’m here for it!

Finally, something else that I can’t wait to play with is the Chasing Rainbows palette from Colourpop, because look how pretty it is!! Discovering Colourpop was basically just the greatest thing to happen to my makeup drawer and I already know that this will be as amazing as everything else I own from them.

All these gifts, plus some other little bits like DVDs and chocolate have made me one super happy chappy! What was your favourite Christmas present?

The Happiest Wrapping on Earth*

Honestly, November has FLOWN by. Its now officially less than a month until Christmas, and I’m feeling super unprepared, but one thing I have got under my belt now, courtesy of the wonderful CoconuTacha, is some incredible Disney inspired wrapping paper, so at least when I do get my Christmas shopping done, the paper is all wrapped up, if you pardon the pun..

Tacha is an incredibly talented UK based graphic designer, and I love the unique style of each of the park icons featured on this wrapping paper. In each set you get 3 A2 size sheets of wrapping paper, plus 4 gift tags, so you’re completely covered for all your wrapping needs.

The paper is a really high quality – way nicer than your regular supermarket roll! – with a glossy finish, and its so beautiful that this is the kind of paper that you’ll want to unwrap carefully so you can keep it again! Also a great secondary use would be as a photo backdrop for blog photos – I may just keep a sheet for myself for this very reason!

And if you’re on the hunt for a cute little stocking filler, Secret Santa gift or just something to treat yourself with, Tacha also has this limited edition ‘Magic Castle’ enamel pin available on her store. Its so pretty and so different from any other castle pins I’ve seen and the colours are stunning together, and for £5 its a steal!

Cute wrapping idea: attach a pin to the gift tag of your present!

There’s currently 10% off both the wrapping paper and pin until the end of today so if you like what you see, head on over to Etsy now, and even if you’ve got your wrapping paper sorted, you should definitely check out Tacha’s designs on both her Etsy store where you’ll find an amazing selection of stationery, planner stickers, art prints and more, and also on Redbubble where you can get her designs on everything from t-shirts to phone cases.

Are you Christmas ready yet?

What I Got For Christmas

I’m kinda not over the fact that its already been a week since Christmas, but hey, that means just another 51 weeks til the next one! No? Just me..

Anyway, I know I’m a little late in posting the classic ‘what I got for Christmas’ haul, but as I was having my little Christmas break from blogging, I’m just extending the festive period so that I can share with you all the wonderful gifts I received on the big day.

Let’s start with the present that was too big to fit under the tree – say hello to my new suitcase! Bit of back story here, my current suitcase is about 15 years old and has two wheels, and all these new-fangled suitcase have four, which I’m not a huge fan of but apparently its the thing now. Well Matthew figured that the only way to get my over my dislike of four wheels was to make it Donald themed! Super excited to take this bad-boy to Hawaii in April to test it out!

Matthew also got me the Fitbit Flyer headphones, which I’m already super impressed by but I can’t wait to put them to good use when I start my marathon training, and a book on how to get the best out of my iPad Pro, plus a cute kitty mug, unicorn slippers and a onesie! I hate the phrase ‘boy did good’ but it seems fitting here..

Now I have no idea how she managed it for a second time, but after the incredible surprise of a CoachxDisney wristlet on my birthday, my mum shocked me with another item from the collection, this time a purse. I’m quite jealous as I had no luck finding any of the collection in the outlets, yet she’s done it twice – she also nabbed me this Mickey sweater!

How gorgeous is this Fiorelli gym bag? I actually picked this one out myself but I still had to wait until Christmas to get it.. I suspect my gym will be packed this month with New Years resolution-ers, but I’ll be ready to fight for all the good machines now I’ve got a bag to fit all my kit in.

Other goodies in my stocking included Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Gilmore Girls, a little collection of Lush products, a couple of gift cards and a pretty Beauty and the Beast bracelet from Couture Kingdom from Matthew’s mum, so it’s safe to say I’ve been incredibly lucky this year!

I hope everyone else was spoilt rotten, and if you want to share what you got for Christmas please leave me a comment so I can be nosey!

Why I’m Disappearing for Christmas

I don’t imagine this is much of a surprise given that over the last week or so I haven’t been keeping up with my usual posting schedule, but I’m putting myself on a little Christmas break and there will be no new posts until the new year!

As I mentioned last week, I’ve started a new job and I’ve been concentrating on getting settled into a new role and new routine, as well as getting ready for the big day next week, so blogging has just had to take a back burner. This is a huge step for me, because as someone who religiously publishes at least 5 posts a week, I do feel a little like I’m letting my little blog down, but I’m proud of the fact that I’m not letting myself feel guilty for putting myself first.

I need a break, and this year is the first time that I have let myself really take one. If I’m not at work, I’m writing, or working on my small businesses, and I even blog daily when I’m on holiday. This Christmas, I think I’ve earned myself a little time off. I only have a few days off work over the festive period, and I want to spend that time enjoying myself, spending time with my family and just relaxing for a change.

I’m also concentrating on making sure come January I’m gonna be ready with great new content right from the get go, and using a new job and a new year as a fresh slate – and there’s going to be lots to come!

In the meantime, I wish you all the most merry of Christmasses, and if I’m not back by then, a lovely New Year!

The Bits of Love Actually No One Talks About

Despite being a true lover of Christmas, I’m not really one for Christmas films, with the one exception of Love Actually. It’s festive, it’s feel good and it’s full of famous people, and I challenge anyone to not enjoy even just a tiny part of it.

And while the movie is packed with lovely moments, romance in the air and Christmas is all around us (and so the feeling grows), there are details of the film that never seem to come up in conversation when you chat about how warm and fuzzy it makes you feel.

Harry is a scumbag, and Mia is the worst

She openly comes onto a married man, and while he plays the innocent and bewildered part, he acts on something that he knows is wrong, breaking the heart of his wife who does nothing to deserve such behaviour. Get in the bin.

Liam Neeson is cool with his stepson being gay

When Sam tells his stepdad that his troubles in life are due to him being in love, Daniel asks ‘and what does she – he – feel about you?’. Sure, Sam is in love with a girl, but the question is still open.

How Sarah has to cope with the stress of a loved one suffering from mental illness

We all cringe at the sound of that Nokia 3310 ringtone, and we all wish that she will get the guy she’s been secretly in love with forever, yet everyone seems to overlook the fact that she is going through so much with her brother, and in caring for him she loses out on such a big part of her own life. Not all heroes wear capes.

How inappropriate is it to tell your best friends WIFE that you’re in love with her

If he had really wanted a chance, he would have grown a pair and told her before they were even engaged, let alone married. But sure, show up on the doorstep, get her to lie about who’s there and make some ridiculous gesture that actually makes you look like a tosser, that’s cool too.

The abuse of power and sexual harassment of the president

This is more relevant this year than ever. Natalie is put in a position that no woman should ever be put in, and not only does she feel awful for it straight away, she does actually lose her job over it. I do, however, appreciate that Hugh Grant makes a point of calling out the president for being a bully, but that’s just not quite enough.

Why are a bunch of primary schools having their Christmas show on Christmas Eve?

If my school had told me we’d have to give up Christmas Eve-evening for a production involving lobsters, I’d be pretty mad.

Do you have any Love Actually pet peeves?

My Christmas 2017 Wish List

And another Christmas is upon us, where did that year go, huh?

Every year as I get older I miss the days of spending hours flicking through the Argos catalogue, because I seem to be losing the ability to respond to the question of ‘what do you want for Christmas?’, so I now have the new tradition of sticking it all in a blog post and that way my family have a convenient reference point and I get some fun content out of it!

So what’s on the list this year?

Matthew and I have already agreed that as we both want new earphones, that’s what we’re going to get each other to save the hassle of shopping. I’ve got my eye on the new Fitbit Flyer wireless earphones which were released a few months ago – I’ve seen loads of great reviews for them and I’m hoping they’ll help in my marathon training! And speaking of marathon training, I’m thinking that I might want a small hydration pack for carrying water (and all my other stuff!) on longer runs. Also on the fitness subject, I’ve got my eye on this pretty Fiorelli gym bag!

As per usual, I’m always good with Lush goodies, and my favourite new product from their Christmas collection this year is the Buck’s Fizz body conditioner because it smells SO GOOD. I’m also loving the Angels on Bare Skin facial cleanser right now so wouldn’t say no to a tub of that!

And books, I always love a book.. On the wishlist at the moment is Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for fans of Gilmore Girls because a) I love a recipe book and b) I love Gilmore Girls and this book seems like a good’un. I’m also on a mission to learn to draw, and I’ve seen a few ‘Learn to Draw Disney..’ books on Amazon that look like really great step by step guides.

The last thing on the list will probably be a Christmas present to me from me because I haven’t yet decided what I want and either way its pretty pricey! I’m desperate for a new lens for my Sony A5000 camera, and am currently torn between the 30mm macro and the 50mm – if anyone has any thoughts on the matter please drop me a comment!

What’s on your Christmas list this year?

What I Got For Christmas!

Christmas has been and gone for another year, so we’re now just left with the goodies we’ve been lucky enough to receive from our loved ones to tide us over until the January sales..

What I Got For Christmas

Considering I really wasn’t expecting much this year, I feel well and truly spoilt with this pile of goodies! You might spot a few items from my wishlist this year, including Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick, the Meeko Vinyl Pop and my favourite mascara, Eyeko Black Magic.

Peony Happiness Planner

I also decided to ask for the Peony Planner from Happiness Planner (over the Kikki K planner I’d mentioned before), and its SO PRETTY! I’ve already started filling it out and can’t wait to keep it up next year.

As well as those bits, I got some new clothes for work and a few Lush goodies, but I was really excited to unwrap some items from the Cath Kidston x Disney collection. I’d attempted the online pre-sale with absolutely no luck, so it was a total surprise that my mum had managed to find the spotty apron and London notebook in Southampton, eek! Mum also surprised me with a New York exclusive Mickey tsum tsum; I’d asked her to bring me back the Statue of Liberty Minnie one when she was there in November, but I had no idea there were other exclusives available so YAY!

Spectrum Fresh Face set

Adding to my ever growing collection of Spectrum brushes, I got the Fresh Face set containing these four gorgeous brushes, not only in a new colour scheme but also in a slightly smaller, more travel friendly size, which came with a matching lilac makeup bag!

I’m so grateful for all the wonderful gifts my family have given me this year – I’m such a lucky girl!

Drunk Things I Did At My Work Christmas Party

Given that this is the third post that I’ve written semi under the influence of alcohol, you might be lead to believe that I have a fairly exciting life that often involves drinking, but I can assure you this isn’t true. Fact is, I’m a lightweight, and therefore tend to do the usual stupid drunken things that most people do, with only a fraction of the alcohol in my system..

Well last week I had my work Christmas do, and for some reason I thought it would be an excellent idea to drink vodka that night. For some, this may not seem particularly strange, but considering I haven’t really drunk spirits in maybe 2-3 years, needless to say I was leaning towards trollied fairly quickly, and this led me to do some very entertaining things.. What happens at the work party, ends up on the internet.

I did three pull-ups

The guy who hosted pre-drinks had one of those doorway pull-up bars, and two drinks down the line, we were all giving it a go and out came the gym freak within me..

I spent a lot of time twirling

A combination of a pretty dress with a flowly skirt, a fairly shiny dancefloor and all those vodka cranberries, and apparently I could not stop spinning.. I have since found video evidence of this on my own phone..

I wing-womaned like a boss

We all went to the party knowing full well that there was a guy that was into my friend, so I of course dragged her over to dance within his line of sight at all times

I walked into a table

I swear it came out of nowhere – who put that there?

I took a bunch of decent selfies

I’m always the drunk who takes too many photos, but I actually managed to get a lot of really nice ones with all my team

I stood on a lot of people’s toes

Drunk Lottie in heels is a walking weapon, and I’m ashamed that several of my friends were victims of toe-crushing

I destroyed my own feet

With all that lovely alcohol in my system, I was totally unaware of the fact that my shoes were creating huge blisters on both of my feet, which I’m still suffering from now..

I was kind enough to share my taxi

There was another woman waiting for a taxi when mine arrived, so I somehow ended up sharing with her, but it saved me a bit of the fare at least!

I had the best night out in a long time

Despite probably making a fool out of myself, it was definitely the most fun I’ve had in a long time, and I have the lovely people on my team to thank for that!

How was everyone else’s Christmas dos?

Christmas Presents I Don’t Like Receiving

Christmas Presents

I don’t ever like to be ungrateful, but I’m sure that everyone has those items that mean you’ve got to pull out that well-practiced false ‘thank you, I love it’ face while inside you’re thinking ‘WHYYY’, right?

So for Christmas giggles, here are mine:

Earrings

I don’t have my ears pierced anymore, but when I did (and now I’m considering getting them pierced again), I was very particular about what I did and didn’t like – what I didn’t like being the majority of the ones I ever received. I appreciate the gesture, but unless you know me well enough, I’d love a gift receipt included..

Baking equipment

I do a lot of baking, and most people who know me know that. The problem is, I already have everything baking related under the sun, and I do not need another set of silicone cupcake cases thank you.

Generic bath sets

I understand the appeal of the Boots 3 for 2, but tiny bottles of nondescript shower gel and a loofer just end up being forgotten about, or stack up in the bathroom only to be used when travelling hand luggage only.

Christmas only items

It could be the cutest little Christmas gift, but to be honest I’ll just be sad that I won’t get to enjoy it for much longer before it has to go away for another year.

Mugs

I love mugs, but again, I’m very particular with the mugs I like. I also have way too many..

Books I can’t read

You know those novelty picture books or kinda funny quotes or poems that you just know are gonna sit on a bookshelf gathering dust because you’ll flick through it once and never need to pick it up again – get me a book I can read!!

What presents make you wish they’d included a receipt?

A Blogger’s Christmas Wishes

Blogger Wishes

Its that time of year; the time we put all our hopes into the wrapped goodies that appear in our stockings or under the tree. We’ve published our Christmas wishlists, written gift guides and dropped enough hints on Twitter about our favourite brands and products, so there’s no way we shouldn’t be getting some lovely presents, but what else might us bloggers be wishing for this Christmas? Cue tongue in cheek..

That all our Christmas presents are Instagrammable

Let’s face it, a pile of presents can give us Instagram photos for weeks on end, so if all our presents match our theme and are super pretty and rake in 100+ likes, that’d be fab.

And that we can write some killer review posts

Cos a stocking full of the latest beauty products can’t be forgotten about

To hit our end of year targets

If we manage to reach out Bloglovin follower goal by Christmas and with a week still left to the end of the year, then we stand a pretty good chance of surpassing it before the year is out

People aren’t too busy to keep reading our blogs

I always find my views tend to take a little dip at this time of year as people are busy with Christmas shopping or parties, so if we can maintain our daily view count, it will really be the most wonderful time of the year!

That we can come up with good New Years resolutions

And y’know, stick to them – cos once we publish that post we know our readers might keep an eye out throughout the year..

That all our blogger friend and followers have a lovely Christmas

While the rest of this post has been very much in jest, I think its safe to say that the most important thing that we all wish for at this time of year is that everyone else has as special a Christmas as we do.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Bathing Gingerbread Men

Its gingerbread time of year – THIS IS NOT A DRILL

I love making gingerbread, but something I really fail at is gingerbread houses – I don’t know whether its all the construction involved or what, but they just always fail or look rubbish and I find it all too stressful, so I tend to stick to regular cookie cutter shapes. Sounds kinda boring right? NOPE.

Dunking Gingerbread Men

My absolute favourite gingerbread creations are these little bathing dudes that hang out in your tea/coffee/hot chocolate; they’re a real crowd-pleaser!

All you need is a batch of your favourite gingerbread recipe (mine is here!), a rolling pin, large gingerbread man cookie cutter and a cupcake tray or two!

  • Preheat your oven to 180C (or whatever your recipe requires!)
  • Whip up your gingerbread, and roll out onto a floured surface and cut out your little gingerbread men
  • Dust your cupcake trays with a little bit of flour, or use non-stick spray over the tray
  • Place your gingerbread man onto the tray, with their bodies in the bottom of the dip, and their arms, legs and head over the edge – you may need to space them out quite a bit, and maybe bake in batches if you don’t have multiple trays!
  • Bake as per your recipe, then let them cool in the tray to make sure they retain their shape

Once cooled, make yourself a nice hot drink to celebrate, and let one of them go for a swim!

Christmas Makeup Staples

We all change up our beauty routines a little with seasonal change, but Christmas is definitely the biggest party time; time for gold and sparkles and festive glow!

This year especially, I’ve seen a big change in my makeup style, and with the Christmas season on its way, I’ve moved away from nude and peachy tones, and have started incorporated more rich, golden tones on my face, shimmery shades on my eyes and deeper reds on my lips, and a few products have stood out as I’ve been reaching for them more and more.

Christmas Makeup

Sun Beam

Controversially, I’m not a big fan of High Beam from Benefit, but Sun Beam is probably my most used liquid highligher at the moment. It leaves such a wonderful glow on my cheeks, without looking too bronze against my oh-so pale natural skin colour.

Golden Lights and Peach Lights

Makeup Revolution highlighters are my life; I probably have most of them! My most recent purchase was this palette, featuring Golden, Peach and Pink Lights, and while the latter is more of a summery shade, the first two are really shimmery and perfect for Christmas parties!

Matte Trimony Matt Kumar eyeshadow

I never used to be much of an eyeshadow person, but in recent months I’ve been loving it a lot more. I got this sample from theBalm in my Feel Unique Pick’n’Mix, and its an ideal Christmas shade: a deep red/burgundy, which blends really well with nude shades and looks great with a bit of shimmer over the top – I blend it with Fit from the Nude Dude palette!

OPI Glitzerland

I’ve had this nail varnish for a few years now, and only ever seem to bring it out at Christmas! Its sparkly, without being overly glittery, and also a fairly light shade so can match a lot of outfits.

Nyx Lip Primer in Deep Nude

This is an all year round staple for me, but especially for the party season, keeping my lipstick in place is so important! I love how easy this is to apply, and how it doesn’t feel too sticky or slimy, and it works!

Colourburst Matte Balm in Standout

I have 5 different shades of these lipsticks from Revlon, but Standout for me is a Christmas shade all over. Its a deep red, can last all night with minimal effort, and I like its pencil style design for easy application

What are your Christmas beauty faves?

Last Minute DIY Christmas Gifts

We’ve all been there. You think you’re all done with shopping, all the presents are wrapped, and then BAM! Either you’ve forgotten someone, or someone you weren’t expecting got you a present and now you have to return the favour, but whatever the reason, suddenly you need to magic up and extra present.

DIY Gift Ideas

Now you could risk throwing yourself back into the hoards of Christmas shoppers, but your credit card bill is longer than Santa’s beard, but shopping has lost its appeal, so why not show how much you care by putting a little bit of time and effort into a handmade gift.

I’ve got you sorted!

Recipe in a Jar

Find a fab recipe, layer the ingredients in a pretty jar and decorate! Print cute instructions and you’re good to go!

Homemade candles

You can pick up candle making supplies from most craft stores, or even just melt down other candles to pour into new moulds! You can make crazy colours using food colouring, or set them in something cute like vintage teacups or large seashells!

Water marbled mugs and plates

Remember when nail marbling was a big thing? Well you can now create unique and stunning gifts by dunking crockery instead of your nails! Little saucers make fab jewellery dishes!

Infused Olive Oils

For your foodie friends, infused oils are a great gift, and they’re surprisingly easy to make. Simply pour oil into a large saucepan, and add the infusion ingredients (garlic cloves, or chilli flakes) then slowly heat the oil over a low-medium heat for 15-20 mins. Let it cool, then pour into bottles!

Mini Terraniums

Pop some little succulents in a jar with some decorative stones, or even some glitter!

Hopefully this has given you a little inspiration for those last minute panic moments, but check out my Pinterest for more!

My Christmas Confessions

That’s right, I’m back with another confessions post! Its been a little while since I’ve done one of these, and all my pent up self-mockery is just dying to get out, and now we’re in December, its totally fine to start talking about my favourite time of year: Christmas!

1. I don’t like Elf

The so-called quintessential Christmas movie does nothing for me. In fact, I’d never even watched it until about 2 years ago, when my then-boyfriend was so upset by the fact I’d never seen it that he forced me to one day. Nah, I don’t see the hype..

2. I normally have all my Christmas presents bought and wrapped by the end of November

This year being the first exception in a long time, but as there are a lot of family birthdays in October/November time, I like to be prepared and spread the cost!

3. I don’t like mince pies

Yuck yuck yuck!

4. I also don’t like Christmas pudding

Or Christmas cake..

5. Also brussel sprouts

EW

6. I still love tracking Santa

Ever since I was a kid, every Christmas Eve we’d go onto the NORAD Santa Tracker to keep an eye on where in the world he was stopping, and I’m not even ashamed to admit that I still do this at age 22.

7. I’m rubbish at sending Christmas cards

Last year was the first time in years that I’ve actually sent out Christmas cards, and to be honest I’m not even sure I’ll do it this year because effort. Soz guys

8. I think people who put glitter in their Christmas cards are the devil’s spawn

There’s always someone who thinks its cute to empty a tub of glitter into the envelope with their card. You open the envelope, chaos ensues and they’re struck off next year’s card list.

9. I take so much pride in my present wrapping skills

Every year I decided on a wrapping scheme, there’ll be ribbon involved and I make my own gift tags and everything. I’ll also normally end up wrapping my sister’s and mum’s presents for them too, but I don’t put in as much effort..

10. I buy a lot of my own Christmas presents

Its the easiest thing to do, especially when it comes to my grandparents. My gran actually prefers it that way, she just gives us a budget and waits for us to produce something that she can take away and wrap up. Its a win win the way I see it!

11. I don’t actually own a Christmas jumper

Shock horror, right? I have this little cute cropped jumper, but its not exactly a traditional Christmas jumper, but really they just don’t do it for me..

12. I basically just transform into a little elf

Making Christmas magical is my calling in life, I just love it ok?

My Christmas Wishlist

Tis the season for hint dropping! Falalalala and all..

In all fairness, each year I publish my wishlist so my family can use it as a guide, so this post really kills two birds with one stone, but as I had a pretty mega birthday present this year (hello Lego Disney Castle), I’m really not asking for, or expecting much this year, so I’ve just looked at a few little stocking filler-type gifty bits!

My Christmas Wishlist 2016

Ok, totally gimmicky and probably not very practical, but with 2017 being another year full of races, I’m kinda drawn to light up shoe laces so I can shine my way through Disney, and amazingly, you can get them on Amazon for about £8, which is way less than I thought they’d be!

I may have a few novelty phone cases, but they’re all bulky silicone ones that I don’t use often, and my current plastic one has been dropped a few too many times and is cracked pretty badly now – well, I’d rather that than my phone itself.. Skinnydip have quite a few cute ones, but I came across the Catnut and Caticorn in the sale for under £10 and I think they’re my faves, as well as bargains! Speaking of cute, how adorable is Vinyl Pop Meeko?

Anna Kendrick is now an author? YESSS. Gotta get my hands on Scrappy Little Nobody, she is my sarcastic spirit animal and I think it’ll be a proper giggle.

The last few bits represent a few of my struggles in life: 1. My favourite mascara, Eyeko Black Magic, isn’t available in regular stores like Boots or even Feel Unique, so I’ve been getting by on a tube I’ve had for longer than I care to admit because I can’t be bothered to order it from Selfridges. 2. I’m a nightmare at not only hoarding stationery, but also choosing it. I have to fully vet any potential planner, and having had success with Kikki K before, this Cute planner (actually its name, not just my go-to description) seems like a good choice, although I’m also kinda lusting over the Peony Happiness Planner (not pictured), but as both are undated, at least I’ve got options, ha! 3. I am a cliche rose gold obsessed girl who dreams of being a princess, and the shrewd among you may have noticed this ring on my wishlist last year. It was from my favourite jewellery store on Etsy, so my heart dropped into my stomach when suddenly the store disappeared, but I’ve recently discovered they’ve got their own website now, so yay!

My First Lush Christmas Haul!

So you might have seen a few of these bits as part of my Mega Haul last month, but I’m a sucker for the Lush Christmas range so its worthy of a second post! The reason I’m calling it my first haul is because a) I’ve never done a Christmas haul post before, and b) I’m planning on getting a few more bits next month so I’ll probably do another post then!

Its no secret, and I’m probably not alone in my view that the best part of Christmas is Snow Fairy. Its pink, its sparkly, and it smells like rainbows and unicorns, and this year its available in more products than ever. I usually start the season with a bottle of the regular shower gel, but after trying the body conditioner at my Lush interview, I needed to get my hands on that too, and as I browsed the website, it became clear to me that it would be better value for money for me to buy the Snow Fairy gift box rather than each of the products individually!

Lush Christmas Snow Fairy

The box contains the classic shower gel, a tub of body conditioner, the beautiful Magic Wand bubble bar and a Father Christmas bath bomb, plus it comes in a showstopper of a box – I love reusing Lush gift boxes! I’ve also been lusting after Fairy Dust dusting powder since I missed out on it last year, so that was an obvious purchase.

What can I say? Snow Fairy is just a winner for me! The body conditioner works as an in-shower moisturiser – you put it straight onto wet skin, and rinse off, saving time and the faff of post-shower stickiness! Top this off with a sprinkling of Fairy Dust and you’re good to go!

Lush Christmas products

How could anyone resist this little penguin?! I prefer bubble bars over bath bombs, so he was a winner for me. I’ve not had a chance to use him yet, but he smells great and I can’t wait!

So that’s all for now, but I’ve got a few more Christmas items that I’m dying to get my hands on: Candy Mountain, Santa’s Belly and Northern Lights to name a few, but I’m gonna have to wait til December when I’ve got a bit more free cash to spend!

My Christmas Haul!

Well happy Boxing Day everyone! Did we all have a lovely day yesterday?!

Christmas is my absolute favourite day of the year, so when its all over its always a little sad, but Boxing Day is still a good day as (well at least for our family) its the day you get to collect all your presents together and admire them, and it always makes me feel incredibly grateful for my amazing family!

But you guys want to know what I got, right?

SONY DSC

Quite the pile, right? I’ve been super lucky!

SONY DSC

If you read my Christmas wishlist post, you’ll see some familiar items!

SONY DSC

A rock cushion? Nope, its my new little troll friend in his alternative form, and I love it! I can’t wait to use him as a travel pillow when we go to Disney next month!

SONY DSC

INFLATABLE BAYMAX (he’s a bath pillow really)

SONY DSC

At first I thought I was above the trend, but actually I fell in love with adult colouring books, and I got three!

SONY DSC

Peanut butter. Nuff said.

SONY DSC

There’s a little pile of Lush goodies there, and some amazing Finding Nemo pyjamas, as well as Maximus and a Nanoblock Neuschwanstein.

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

A late addition to my Christmas list was the Magnitone Barefaced, and I’m really excited to start using it, my skin needs some major TLC in 2016! It came with a cute little travel pouch, and because Mum ordered it from FeelUnique, while they were running a promotion, I also got a free shower holder for it!

SONY DSC

And the present that I genuinely squealed opening: this adorable Minnie Mouse hat which my sister had bought (without my knowing!) in Disneyland Paris in October! I had been regretting not buying it while we were out there, and I haven’t really taken it off since!

There’s a few bits from Fabletics (which I picked out in the Black Friday sale, ha!), add a few little stocking fillers, chocolate etc and that’s my haul!

What did you get for Christmas?

Disney Secret Santa Round-up!

At the beginning of November I announced my very first online Secret Santa, purely for Disney fans/bloggers. I crossed my fingers for success, expecting a few of my closest Disney friends to be interested, probably out of pity support, so I was totally amazed when interested came flooding in from all over the Twitter-sphere, including some of my absolute favourite bloggers and internet friends!

I can honestly say it was the best decision I’ve ever made, its been so much fun and having everyone on board has made it even more special, so here’s how I got on!

I felt so lucky to get the beautiful Amy from Cocktails in Teacups; she’s one of my absolute favourite bloggers, I check her blog everyday and just love keeping up with her adventures! I really wanted to nail her gift so I put in a lot of thought, and here’s what I came up with..

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

Knowing her favourite films are Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid, I chose two vintage travel style prints from Etsy: one for Neverland and one for Atlantica. Topped up with some festive scented candles (the seashell ones I made myself!), a cute little Minnie Mouse coin purse and some chocolate coins, and I think I put together a good little parcel!

Today, I also received my gift from the lovely Nicola from Nicoohlala!

SONY DSC

She got me a Funko Pop Honey Lemon, which is great because I have a growing collection of Funkos, and also two beautiful Tangled posters, yay!

I never imagined when I set out to organise this that it would be so much fun! Its been so great and having everyone’s support has made it even more special! Wanna read how others have got on?

Friday Favourite Five: Christmas Films

This is the last FFF of 2015! This series still feels new to me, so its so crazy to think I’ve been running it since the start of August, and can’t wait to keep it up going into the next blogging year!

I know we’ve probably all been watching them for the last month already, but I’m finishing up my Christmas FFs with my favourite Christmas movies! You might hate me for saying this, but as much as I love Christmas, I’m really not a huge fan of traditional Christmas films, so while they may not be everyone’s top picks, here are mine:

1. Mickey’s A Christmas Carol

Ok yes, this is a traditional Christmas film, but I just love it! Its a story that’s been told so many times in so many ways, but this version will always be the best in my eyes!

2. Love Actually

I’m a huge cliche, I know, but come on, I don’t think I need to explain this one.

3. The Holiday

Cheesy chick flick, Christmas setting and a sweet little old guy for good luck, and all wrapped up in time for New Years!

4. Bridget Jones’s Diary

Another total girly film, but it involves Christmas jumpers, snow and parties, so it counts for me! (Also, its basically Pride and Prejudice, so bonus points)

5. Elf

I’m about to admit something that many people will be offended by: until last year, I had never seen Elf *ducks for cover*. I don’t think its worth all the hype, but as I don’t watch that many Christmas films, its made the list!

What are your favourite Christmas movies?

Friday Favourite Five: Tastes of Christmas

Aside from the joy of giving and all that jazz, Christmas is about stuffing yourself with food until you feel like you’re going to burst, then falling asleep, waking up the next morning and doing it all over again!

With that in mind, here are the foods that always bring me back to festive memories:

1. Orange and Lemon Slices

Yep, those little jelly sweets that you can probably get all year round, but in our house they’re Christmas tradition – as is fighting over the middle bit!

2. Costa hot chocolate

Yes, I’m gutted that the seasonal flavours aren’t as good this year, but a plain old Costa hot chocolate is still a perfect treat on cold days out Christmas shopping.

3. After Eights

I’m not a dark chocolate person in the slightest, but can anyone ever resist an After Eight at this time of year? PS they normally taste better before 8pm.

4. Peppermint everything

Whether its my peppermint Eos balm, or sucking on a candy cane, peppermint is a Christmas staple!

5. Buck’s Fizz!

Now I’m really not big on champagne, or orange juice really for that matter, but you can’t start a Christmas party, or Christmas morning, without a glass of this bubbly stuff!

What are your favourite Christmas treats?

Decking the Halls

The first weekend of December is always the most special for a little Christmas elf like myself because in our house its tree time! In one short weekend, our house transforms from an everyday home to a wonderland of fairy lights, glitter, sparkle and Christmas cheer!

SONY DSC

Pride of place in our hallway is the Christmas tree, but while many people opt for colour schemes, or at least some sort of order to their decorations, we have a mismatched tree of memories. Every time we go somewhere, we buy a tree decoration, so our tree reflects our family to a tee, while it may be the nightmare of Christmas perfectionists! Of course, at least half our decorations are Disney!

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

Next to the tree is my Christmas grotto, filling the remaining space under the stairs, and the threading of our (now fairly raggedy) holly tinsel up the banisters is a long-standing tradition in our house!

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

And all the free-standing creatures..

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

We always hang decorations from the ceiling in our dining room, and this year Mum and Dad bought these gorgeous glass balloons which I’m obsessed with!

SONY DSC

And another new addition from Disneyland Paris this year!

SONY DSC

I’ll be sharing more Christmas decorations on my Instagram account, mainly because I could take up several blog posts with all the photos I could take!

Is your house looking nice and festive?

Friday Favourite Five: Scents of Christmas

With the turn of December, Fridays are turning festive!

Christmas is always a treat for all the senses, so this week I’m sharing my favourite smells associated with this magical time of year!

1. Snow Fairy shower gel

This is my absolute FAVOURITE seasonal product ever! This glittery beauty smells like unicorns, rainbows and candyfloss and I love it.

2. Gingerbread baking

SONY DSC

Whether its cookies or a house, that glorious scent wafting from the oven marks the start of festive cheer!

3. Salted Caramel Yankee Candles

I know there’s nothing specifically Christmassy about salted caramel, but these Yankees have such a warm decadent smell that I always save them for winter nights.

4. Roast dinners

A good roast has many different components, but when all those smells mix together it creates a symphony of smells that is Christmas dinner heaven!

5. Fort Wilderness candle from Maple and Whisky

This pine-y scented candle reminds me of Christmas trees and festive cheer!

What smells do you associate with Christmas?

My Christmas Wishlist

If it isn’t already abundantly clear, I love Christmas. Well, who doesn’t really?!

And in these modern times, I’m sure Santa spends more time checking blog wishlists than he does reading physical letters! So here’s mine:

xmas list 2015

1. Reversible Troll soft toy from The Disney Store

I’m totally obsessed with this little guy, I think he’d make the best travel pillow for my trip in January!

2. Lets Do Lunch business card holder from Kate Spade

Simple and elegant, this makes my inner business-woman very happy!

3. Duff Bakes cookbook from Amazon, among other sellers

Ever since the first time I watched an episode of Ace of Cakes, I have worshipped Duff, and now he’s released a book, I need it in my life!

4. Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar from Lush

I love Lush, but as I’m not a bath person, its their haircare and shower products that do it for me! I had a shampoo bar years back and loved it, so definitely up for trying another one.

5. Best Day Ever raglan shirt from Happily Ever Tees

I’ve discovered these guys on Instagram and I’m dying to wear this shirt in the parks in January!

6. Crown ring from Applelatte on Etsy

I’m a huge fan of this store on Etsy, they make amazingly pretty jewellery, and this ring in the rose gold colour is beautiful!

7. Funko Pop Maximus from Amazon, among other sellers

When the Tangled collection was released recently I rushed to get Rapunzel, so now I just need this little cutie!

8. Red Converse All Star High Tops

My shoe collection is pretty much 90% Converses, and I’m not even ashamed of that, so if Santa could bring me red high tops in a size 6, they’ll be much appreciated for my January Disney trip!

9. Sugar Daddy-O solid conditioner from Lush

Another hair product – I can’t live with dirty hair, and I like to believe maybe a solid conditioner will reduce the amount of bottles I get through!

Are you asking Father Christmas for anything special this year?

Disney Girl Secret Santa

Ok girlies, don’t hate me for being so early on Christmas prep, but this is really just to test the waters and see who’s interested! (Plus, I waited until after Halloween, and I think that’s acceptable, ha!)

So really the best thing that blogging and Disney has done for me, especially in the last year or so, is brought me together with some truly incredible people, and at the heart of that are my Disney girls, and it really does hurt my heart sometimes that some of these magical ladies aren’t in my life physically, as well as on social media; you guys know who you are.

With that in mind, I have a proposition for you all: I will organise DISNEY SECRET SANTA. Yes, yes, yes?!

Obviously I keep in regular contact with a lot of you, so I’ll chase you all up to see if you’re interested, but if you’re up for entering, drop me a DM on Twitter (@lottiedoesblog) with the following:

– Your details, including address, any social media usernames and blog links – so your Santa can keep an eye on you!

– A little bit about yourself – what you’d like your Santa to know about you: favourite films, personal style etc

– Your thoughts on min/max spend, so I can choose a fair amount that everyone agrees on!

From there, I’ll do all the hard work!

Once everyone has registered their interest and commited, I’ll be sending out the details of your randomly selected lovely lady, and any other information, including send-by dates and spending limits!

Let me know what you think girlies!

xoxo

NB. This is for UK Disney girls/bloggers only, sorry!

My Ultimate Disney Christmas Wishlist

Christmas is coming, eek!

I am the ultimate Christmas shopper. I have most, if not all, of my presents by the end of November, because a) I like to get it out of the way, b) I’m good at shopping for other people, so I don’t normally have too much trouble finding great gifts, and c) for both of the previous reasons, my mum tends to rely on me for help doing her shopping!

And as I’ve bought most of the family Disney on Ice tickets for Christmas this year, its left me with a little bit more time to think about what I might be writing to Santa for this year..

Xmas list

What’s on your Disney Christmas wishlist?

°o°

Christmas cannot come soon enough now!

So despite the wrist fracture, I am super SUPER excited because this week I managed to get tickets to Disney On Ice at the O2 Arena!

I was desperate to get tickets a while back, only to be disappointed that there weren’t any available for any of the London shows (wah!), so when I found out an extra performance had been added I leapt at it. Challenge #1 was deciding who to take/how many tickets to get, and while my boyfriend kindly offered to come to keep me company, its not exactly his cup of tea..

Lightbulb! I knew straight away if I could get 9 tickets together, it would be the perfect Christmas present for the family; a day out in London, more magical Disney memories, much more meaningful that any physical presents I could get them – the girls have so much stuff!

What could be more magical on Christmas Eve?!
