Glass Slipper Camp – Tiana HIIT

Hey Glass Slipper campers, are you ready for another workout?!

This month we’re gonna mix things up a little bit with a HIIT workout, so get ready to dig a little deeper because this month its all about Tiana!

So what is HIIT?

It stands for High Intensity Inverval Training, and the basic idea is that you give it everything you’ve got for a set length of time, then rest for a short space, then go again. Push, rest, push, rest; you get the picture. The best way to keep to your timings on this is to download an interval timer app on your phone, and set it to beep at each changeover.

The best part about this workout is it requires no equipment whatsoever, so find yourself some space and let’s get going! I recommend starting off doing each exercise for 20 seconds, and taking a 10 second rest between each exercise. If this is quite comfortable, push yourself to 30 seconds on, 10/15 seconds off, and try and get in as many rounds as you can!

This workout is designed to focus on your legs, so be sure to stretch well once you’re done!

Burpee jumps

While I often consider burpees to be torture, they are a great exercise for working your whole body and getting your heart pumping!

Frog Hops

To get the full effect, keep your body low and stick your butt right out as you hop in and out. (Apologies for my weak left knee!)

Frog Jumps

Like with the frog hops, try and keep low and movements small. Focus on just tapping the floor with your fingers each time, but keep your chest and head up.

Lateral frog jumps

Imagine you’re hopping from lilypad to lilypad. Really push up from each jump to drive sideways, and be sure to land on both feet at the same time.

Squat jumps

Finish off the set with a round of power jumps! Squat low and push up hard, little frog princess!

Congratulations princesses, you’ve just earned yourself a discount code! Buy either the Glass Slipper Camp or KettleBelle tank top, and get the second for just £5! Shop here, and just use ‘FITPRINCESS’ at the checkout!

Glass Slipper Camp – Merida

I love how much you guys are loving the Glass Slipper Camp series! Its so satisfying knowing that something I put a lot of work into and had a lot of fun creating is really being appreciated, so thank you all!

This month we’re gonna be shooting for our own hands in honour of our favourite fiery redhead princess, that’s right, its Merida month and we’re focusing on strong arms!

You can do these exercises with weights, or they all work really well with a resistance band! I recommend starting with 3 sets of 10-15 reps, but see how you get on and do whatever you feel comfortable with!

Pull the Bow

Load up your bow, aim and pull that arrow back! Keep your chest up and tuck your hips forward to keep the core engaged.

Bicep Curls

Work those upper arms and build strength in those bear-ceps!

Quiver Pulls

Get ready to reload! Be sure to support your weight-bearing arm with the other.

Shoulder Press

Show how much stronger you are than those pesky clan first-borns, and be sure to touch the sky as you push up!

Tricep Kickbacks

Feet together, knees bent and butt out! Push those weights back and be sure to control them on the way back.

Now you’ve toned up your arms, will you be changing your fate?

PLUS this month comes with another discount code! Using ‘FATE30’ to save 30% on all orders at The Happiest Fitness Co  – valid until June 30th!

Glass Slipper Camp – Mulan

As voted by you, this month’s installment of Glass Slipper Camp features our favourite warrior princess, Mulan!

Are you ready to get down to business?!

This is a great workout do at home home as you don’t need any equipment! Try starting out with 3 sets of 15-20 reps.

Sumo Squats

Defeat those buns with this wide squat that also works your inner thighs.

Lunge Kickbacks

This variation on a classic lunge gets your stability muscles working and also activates your glutes as you kick backwards.

Knee Chop

As well as stretching your legs, this doubles as an ab-crunch!

Glute Kickbacks

Try to keep your upper body still and focus on keeping your glutes tight as you lift your leg back. Push your hands together to work your arms at the same time

Squat Kicks

Another twist on a classic! Squat nice and low, then keep your leg straight as you kick it up, working those stability muscles and the sides of your core.

Did this workout make a man out of you? Well reward yourself with 40% off all orders over £15 from The Happiest Fitness Co using ‘MULANCAMP’ at the checkout – valid until the end of May!

Breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table

If you’re looking for somewhere totally magical to eat in the Magic Kingdom, does it really get any better than eating in Cinderella Castle itself? No. The answer is no.

Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of the few restaurants in MK that offers reservations prior to park opening, meaning early access to Main Street USA before the crowds descend, and for me that’s always worth the stress of those 180 day advanced dining reservations! Its a bit of a first-day tradition for me, and both Sarah and I were dying to eat breakfast with the princesses.

With the new welcome show, you’re not able to walk through the castle from Main Street, so its a little detour past Sleepy Hollow and round to the back of the castle from there. Once you’ve checked in for your meal, you enter the castle to be greeted by Cinderella herself in a grand entrance hall – psst, look out for Gus Gus and Jaq! Once you’ve had your photo and your party has been announced, you climb a spiral staircase up into the dining room and are escorted to your table.

I really loved the size of the dining room. I expected it to be much bigger, but its a perfect size to not feel enormous, but also not crowded, and it means that you’re never too far from the gorgeous stained glass window that looks out over Fantasyland. We were brought out a plate of beautiful pastries while we decided on what to choose from the menu, and the juice was constantly flowing so our glasses were never empty.

Over the course of the first 10-15 minutes of our meal, each princess was announced as they entered the restaurant, and we seemed to have a prime seat as we were the first table visited by almost every princess. We met Aurora, Snow White, Ariel and Jasmine, all of whom were so lovely and friendly, and didn’t rush our interactions at all. At points throughout the meal, there was also a wishing ceremony, for which we were each given a plastic wand to wave – I don’t know if they normally give wands to adults but our server David brought us one each anyway!

As well as the pastries, we each ordered the traditional breakfast, which was delicious but after a Mickey shaped blueberry muffin, I struggled to finish the whole plate. Being on the Disney Dining Plan, the meal was 2 table service credits, which was totally worth it for the food, the characters and the experience of dining in the castle – plus our wands of course! The cast members were also so sweet, which for me always makes any meal feel even better, and it was the perfect start to our trip.

We also just had to stop to use the restrooms on the way out just so we could say we’ve been to the loo in the castle, ha!

HEY GUYS!

If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you may have noticed me dropping hints about a secret project that I’ve been working on, AND THIS IS IT YA’LL.

Glass Slipper Camp

Its a new fitness series, and its inspired by the Glass Slipper Camp tank top from The Happiest Fitness Co, so naturally, its princess inspired!

Each month, I’ll be sharing a new workout, each one inspired by a different Disney princess, consisting of 5 moves. There’ll be a mixture of workouts, from HIIT to kettlebells, but the majority will be simple but effective exercises, which can be done with or without the use of weights.

As she is the inspiration for the tank top, I’ll be kicking off the series with a Cinderella inspired workout! Be prepared to work those legs as we’ll be needing them to run away from the ball at midnight! I recommend 3-5 sets of 10-15 reps.

My Change of View on Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast Live Action Funko

It feels like forever since the announcement that divided Disney fans worldwide – a new, live action movie of Beauty and the Beast. And despite all that time, its now only 2 months away from cinema release, and the closer we get to it, the more I find myself thinking about it.

The cast had me squealing with joy. Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, partnered with the legened himself, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, along with Emma Thompson and Josh Gad; it all had me buzzing for the first trailer I watched it with excitement. I loved the side by side comparison with the original animated trailer, the dark castle and music.

What I wasn’t sold on entirely, like many others, was Emma Watson. Unfortunately, all I could see in the brief time she was on screen was Hermione Granger, and this had me a little worried for how much I would enjoy the film. It had nothing to do with her appearance – in fact I adored all the artwork and clips being released – it was just that little scene where she entered the castle and said ‘hello’. That was it.

Now I know this opinion has bothered a lot of people, so before you think I’m gonna be a negative ninny, I want to tell you how my mind has been changed..

A few weeks ago, a sound clip of Emma singing Something There was released. This is one of my favourite songs from the film, and I braced myself as I pressed play.. I actually loved it. Having never heard Emma Watson sing before, I was always a little dubious of her casting, but it was everything I wanted it to be, and in those 30 seconds, I felt my whole attitude towards the movie change. I guess the fact is, much like the moral of the story, you can’t judge a book by its cover..

Are you excited to see it?

Make It Pink, Make It Blue

Make it pink, make it blue

Make it pink, make it blue

Make it pink, make it blue

I think this might be one of my favourite outfits for my upcoming Disney trip! It is, of course, based on Sleeping Beauty, which was my favourite Disney film and favourite princess as a child. I also love a flannel shirt and an excuse to get new Mickey ears.

The shirt is from the awesome Cakeworthy, which I bought towards the end of last year. I’m so glad I got it when I did because I’d been looking at it for a while, and its actually sold out now so I definitely timed my purchase right! As soon as I decided that I wanted to turn it into an outfit for this trip, I knew exactly the top I wanted to pair it with – this Make It Blue tank from 2319 Threads, which I’d seen on Instagram and I had a discount code!

To top it off (quite literally!) I commissioned these GORGEOUS custom ears from ImagineEars. I’d been thinking about getting a pair of sequin ears for some time, and I’m so glad I did because I love these!

Oh, and if you were wondering, I’m Team Blue!

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Tulle

I leave for Walt Disney World in 10 weeks. 10 WEEKS!!

Its become part of my trip countdown tradition to share the outfits I have planned, but this year I decided to try something a little different in the set up of these posts because a) it saves me having to go outside and take countless outfit photos and b) I’m hoping to get lots of photos of these outfits on the trip, and they’ll look much better in situ in the parks than they would in my back garden.

So instead, I’m gonna rock the flatlays!

Bibbidi-Bobbidi Tulle Disney Outfit

Day one of our trip is going to be super magical. We’ll be twirling down Main Street first thing on our way to breakfast reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table, so I’ll be leaving the glass slippers at home and opting for Converses instead, but I still want to be a princess nonetheless. Sarah’s planning a Rapunzel-bound which also involves a tulle skirt, so it was a perfect excuse for me to dig out mine again!

The t-shirt is from Redbubble (as you’re probably aware most of mine are!), and I made the ears to match – any excuse for new ears! I also always look forward to being able to wear my Alex and Ani bracelets again when I go on Disney trips – I think they’re so beautiful but I don’t like wearing them when I’m not in the parks.

I can just imagine the day being full of princess meeting, twirling and happiness, and I’m so excited!!

My Day at the Moana Masterclass

If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you may have seen that last weekend I was lucky enough to travel up to London to go to the Moana Masterclass, put on by The Guardian, and it was such an incredible day!

Despite being up at 5.30am, I was so hyped for the day that I didn’t get a wink of sleep on the train like I normally would – although the shrieking children across the aisle from me may have had something to do with that – and I arrived at Waterloo feeling super excited. In all the excitement, however, I managed to forget to put a memory card in my camera that morning, so I’m afraid all my photos from the day were taken on my phone as I had no time to buy one in my dash from Waterloo to the cinema!

The event was at Picturehouse Central – the cutest cinema located just off Shaftesbury Avenue – and it was outside there that I met my company for the day, Sophie, Cara and Courtney, and we headed inside to join the queue of people waiting to be lead in. The queue time consisted of a great deal of Disney discussion, as you’d expect, interrupted only by the guy coming to check our tickets.. and hand out 3D glasses. At this point my heart dropped a little as I had no idea we’d be shown the movie in 3D, and I’ve never enjoyed watching things in 3D, but I tried to keep an open mind.

We were taken to a screen right at the top floor of the building – hello three sets of escalators! It was a fairly small room, which was great because we were in the third row and felt fully emerged in the whole thing. After a little introduction, we went straight into the good stuff – the latest short, called Inner Workings, which was a brilliantly funny cautionary tale about embracing life – then the movie began..

I’m not gonna spoil the story, but I had tears streaming from the first minute. As well as the film meaning a lot to me personally, it was just so perfect. I’d probably go as far as saying its the most visually stunning film I have ever seen; Disney have absolutely out-done themselves on this one. As for the 3D, I actually thought it only made the film better! Unlike other films, it didn’t feel like I was watching something in 3D, it just gave the scenes a more natural feeling of depth, and I would actually recommend seeing it in 3D if you have the change!

Everything about the film was perfect, the casting, the music, the visual effects, and it left me speechless, feeling totally in awe.

After the showing, we had a break for lunch, which, while the food was good, the organisation was a little poor as there wasn’t space for everyone to get around the buffet, and we had to stand as there wasn’t enough seating for everyone in the lounge that it was done in, but we filled the time talking more Disney, then went back into the screen for the Masterclass with John Musker, Ron Clements and Osnat Shurer.

For starters, seeing Disney legends so close was just so awesome. They started with a presentation about their inspiration for the film, and all the research that went into ensuring cultural accuracy, then went on to talk about the casting, music and all the stages of production from storyboards to finishing effects. As John and Ron are famous for their hand-drawn animation, it was really interesting to hear about their first experience with digital animation on this film.

After their presentation, there was a short Q&A session. We learned a little about how John and Ron both got into Disney animation in very different ways, they talked a little about some of the Easter Eggs in the film (look out for them!) and they also gave some advice for those looking to get into animation and film making. As a total dunce when it comes to animation and visual effects, I just sat and listened to what was being asked and answered, but if you want to know a little more, keep an eye out on Courtney’s blog as I’m sure she’ll be posting a more detailed account from the eye of an illustrator!

Honestly, it might sound like I’m just gushing about this but that’s because it was such an incredible experience and I had the greatest day. I feel so lucky to have been able to see the film before general release, and it was more perfect than I could have ever dreamed, and I just feel so honoured to have been in a room with such legends from the world of Disney. There’s one quote from the day that stuck in my head the most, and its a quote from an elder that the team met on one of their many research trips:

“We’ve been swallowed by your culture. One time, can you be swallowed by our culture?”

Let yourself be swallowed by this film. You’ll enjoy every second of it.

Why Moana is Special to Me

Moana has probably been the most anticipated Disney film of the year, and this could be for many reasons: its the first ‘princess’ character since Frozen, the cast is pretty incredible and the trailer had most people’s jaws on the floor. Every time Disney let us in on a new snippet of information, its met by excitement all round, and even though the movie isn’t coming out until next month, I’m already incredibly grateful for this film. (I’m sat writing this having listened to How Far I’ll Go from the soundtrack for at least an hour and crying intermittently cos y’know hormones)

If you’re a fairly new reader of this little blog of mine, you may not know much about my family. You see, my uncle is Samoan, and therefore so are my three beautiful little cousins.

wd031wdw2014239113802175

Ok, so they’re a little older now than they were in this photo, but they’re still some of my favourite people in the world, and the release of Moana, a polynesian princess, means that they have a Disney princess that they can identify with.

Now you could argue that Moana isn’t technically a princess, she’s the daughter of a chief – well so are my girls, technically.. Fun little fact for you: my uncle is actually a chief! So yes, they may live in the UK and not on an island in the Pacific, but they have more in common with Moana than most other little girls have with their favourite princesses!

I think if I had one wish for this film, its that it could have come out a few years ago when the girls were younger and more into princesses, but they’re still set up with a fancy dress idea for life, haha!

I really hope this film lives up to all the hype, I couldn’t be more excited for it!

This is really just a glowing tribute to my absolute favourite and, in my opinion, the best parade Disney World have ever created. What I’m Wearing – Rapunzel Disneybound

In just three weeks time we’ll have actually arrived in China, eek!

Rapunzel Disneybound

Rapunzel Disneybound

Rapunzel Disneybound

Rapunzel Disneybound

I don’t keep it much of a secret how much I love Tangled. Rapunzel is the epitome of positivity and free-thinking and, as silly as it sounds, she just inspires me.

I really like this outfit; I think its fairly clear what princess I’m representing, while also being super subtle and most importable, crazy comfortable! The top is from Boohoo, and made of a sort of thick crepe material which means its really light and cool, and although its a crop top, the shape of it is really flattering. I obviously chose it for the criss-cross front as a nod to Punzie’s dress! The shorts are from Asos, and again I really like them. I’m not really sure how to describe the cut; they’re sort of pleated in the front which makes them just the right kind of baggy for the heat of summer – can you tell I’m not a fashion expert? Ha!

Finally the outfit is completed with the most beautiful pair of custom ears that my friend Amy made for me – she’s got a shop here! I’ve been looking at wire ears for a little while now, and saw this as a perfect opportunity, and she nailed them! They’re so pretty, so comfortable and so right for this Disneybound, I couldn’t be happier!

Pascal agrees too!

What I’m Wearing – Belle Disneybound

The start of weekly Disney outfit posts can only mean one thing.. I’m counting down to a Disney trip! YAAYYYY!

Yes, that’s right, I’m now properly in the run up to my Shanghai/Hong Kong trip, and with 5 total park days during my 2 week trip, I’ve got five outfits to share!

Belle Disneybound

Belle Disneybound

Belle Disneybound

Belle Disneybound

(sorry for out of focus shots, I work with a self timer..)

Its no secret how much I love outfit planning, but I really struggled with ideas for Shanghai, so I took inspiration from the part of the park I’m most excited about: the castle. You see, the newly built castle consists of elements of all of the Disney castles combined, so it only seemed right that I represented a few of my favourite princesses, starting today with Belle!

I had my eye on a pretty yellow dress on Asos, but its forever out of stock in my size, so when I stumbled across this gorgeous playsuit on Romwe, I decided to take a chance on the ‘one size fits all’! I really love it; its super comfy and represents Belle’s ballgown so well! The Belle inspired bow is from Mickey Waffle Bows on Etsy.

Adventure in the great wide somewhere, anyone?

Baking Magic – Make it Pink! Make it Blue! Cupcakes

This post is coming to you today in honour of the fact that right now I’m in Disneyland Paris! Thank goodness for scheduled posting, eh?

To celebrate the fact that I’m probably twirling around in front of Sleeping Beauty’s gorgeous castle as you read this, I’m honouring the lovely Aurora and the classic debate among her many fans: pink or blue?

Make It Pink Make It Blue Cupcakes

Start off by preheating your oven to 190C, whip up a batch of your favourite vanilla cupcake mix, and separate it into two bowls.

SONY DSC

Using gel food colourings (I recommend Wilton or Sugaflair!), tint one bowl pink, and one bowl blue, like so!

Make It Pink Make It Blue Cupcakes

Line a cupcake tray with cases – pink and blue were my obvious choices, but its up to you! – and using a teaspoon, drop a little bit of one colour into each case. Keep on adding the two different colours bit by bit until the case is 3/4 full, then you can either leave it as is, or use a skewer to swirl them together a little more; gives it a bit more of a magical effect, I think!

SONY DSC

Bake for 15-17 minutes. If the cakes spring back nicely when you give them a little poke, or a skewer inserted into the cakes comes out clean, then you’re good to go! Get them out and onto a cooling rack.

Now its time to make some frosting; my go-to is always buttercream. Use at least 2 parts icing sugar to 1 part butter, and you might want to add a little more sugar as a firmer buttercream is better for this one! Again, tint half pink and half blue.

You’re going to need three piping bags for this next bit, but only one nozzle – I’m using a large closed star tip. Without cutting the ends off, fill one bag half full with pink, and another half full with blue, and try and squeeze the icing down a little.

Make It Pink Make It Blue Cupcakes

Cut the end off of the third bag and insert the nozzle, then you can snip the ends off of the pink and blue bags. Pop the two full bags into the empty one, and slowly squeeze until the icing appears at the end of the tip. You may find here that one colour comes out first before the second begins to show, I squeeze it out into another bowl until the colours are mixing nicely.

Make It Pink Make It Blue Cupcakes

Now pipe your cupcakes!

Make It Pink Make It Blue Cupcakes

I think the fairies would be proud, don’t you? Are you Team Pink or Team Blue?

Have Courage and Be Kind

We are lucky enough to be having some totally gorgeous weather in Bournemouth this week, so today I am blogging from a picnic mat in my garden while soaking up some sun and imagining I’m in Florida!

So yesterday I went to see Cinderella in the cinema again, and second time round I was still blown away by the beauty of it, not just visually but also the messages it conveys.

“Have courage and be kind”

For so few words, this quote has so much power. You may not think that courage and kindness are really all that linked, but in life I think that kindness can sometimes take a whole lot of courage; sometimes we just don’t want to always be kind, sometimes we think we’ll feel better by belittling people whether it be in words or just in our own minds, but does that really makes us a good person, even if we temporarily feel better for it?

No, it doesn’t. Kindness is selfless, and unfortunately that is why so many people choose to ignore their kind urges, because they don’t believe it will serve any purpose to themselves, but that is where many are wrong. Kindness is not innate, we must learn how to be kind and in doing so we must discover our own way to enjoy it, whether it be that warm fuzzy feeling you get from helping another living being, or just appreciating a simple thank you.

“They treat me as best they can”

We cannot expect kindness from those we do not treat in the say way. Although Cinderella isn’t treated right by her new step-family, she can appreciate that that is simply the only way they know how to act, and does not restrict her kindness to them, as she hopes that through her kindness they may learn it too. How simple would it have been to tell Kit that she was not treated well? Perhaps she thought about saying that. But in her heart Cinderella is grateful that she is not treated worse, as she knows she could be. She has lost so much that she has learnt to appreciate what she still has, which is a purpose to keep on going.

“But kindness, kindness makes it everything”

And the Fairy Godmother was right: kindness improves everything. Its like service vs. service with a smile, there isn’t anything we do that cannot be improved with the addition of kindness. I don’t imagine anyone has ever said ‘the only thing that could have improved that would be if they hadn’t been as nice’, and if they have then I feel sorry for that person, who cannot appreciate the act of kindness that they were lucky enough to have received. Kindness is a gift we all must learn to appreciate from others, and be generous enough to share with those around us.

“Will you take me as I am?”

Acceptance of others; it is a thing that in this world I cannot imagine why it is so difficult, yet is is a thing that occurs so frequently that we believe it to be normal. In order to accept others, we must allow ourselves to see them as they truly are, see past whatever assumptions and negativity we want to put upon them and understand why they are who they are. To give someone your understanding is a great kindness, and you may find that they are kind enough to give you theirs in return. And if they don’t, you must try to understand why they cannot, and learn that this is not a reason to withhold kindness from them, as it may be that it is something they do not understand.

“I forgive you”

The power of these three little worlds is astonishing, for without forgiveness the world would be a very different place, and if more people believed in the act of forgiveness then it would also be much changed, but for the better. If Cinderella can forgive her step-mother for her poor treatment and even imprisonment, then why is it so difficult for those of us who suffer so very little to forgive those who wrong us in such minor ways. What does forgiveness cost us?

Nothing. And those who do not expect forgiveness will be more changed for knowing it; being forgiven for wrongs we have committed shows true courage and kindness from our victims, which we in turn must learn to have and appreciate.

“The fairest and kindest”

We must all endeavour to be described as such. We must compete with ourselves to constantly become a better person than who we were before, always improving with time, and learning to show kindness and forgiveness to not only those around us, but also to ourselves. If we cannot be kind and understanding of ourselves, the person we truly know best, then how can we know how it feels to do the same for others. We must look at ourselves in the mirror and see the person we are, and where we have come from to be where we stand today. We must always be the best versions of ourselves, but know that everyone is capable of mistakes, and therefore we must forgive ourselves for them.

So will you make the pledge with me: to have great courage and learn true kindness? From here on out I promise to always try to find the courage for kindness, to understand and forgive others who cannot, and accept them for who they are. I promise to try to make everything better by adding kindness, and always strive to be the fairest and kindest person I can be, and forgive myself when I struggle to be so.

Are you with me?

What I’m looking forward to this week!

So I’m totally aware that, other than my RunDisney training posts, my posting habits have been incredibly poor this last month or so. Excuses? Well I could say that I’ve been working on a few different upcoming lifestyle posts, which is true, but I honestly can’t blame it on anything more than changes in my personal life leading to a lot of self-evaluation; the super deep stuff that tends to follow a breakup.

So that said, I’m working hard on looking forward, and concentrating on bigger and better things, so I’m going to start writing more personal lifestyle pieces, including ‘What I’m looking forward to..’, starting with this week!

1. Disney 2.0

bm

On Tuesday (or actually tomorrow night for those of us lucky enough to be behind Australia time zones!) Black Milk Clothing are launching their new Disney collection. I’ve seen the previews on their Pinterest account, and its AMAZING. There’s actually not a single piece I wouldn’t want to own, and I’m actually buzzing because this month I’m letting myself loosen the purse strings a little so I can actually afford to spoil myself a little. I’ve got 3 pieces picked out, as well as a couple of other items from the website stashed in my cart waiting to go!

2. More sewing projects!

So I got a sewing machine for Christmas with the intention to get back into sewing and dressmaking, and in the last two weeks I’ve actually got round to the dressmaking side of that, making two dresses and a skirt for my girls for Easter, which were a suggest (thank goodness!) and have got me in the mood for more! I’ve already started on a new quilt this week, and I’ve got many more ideas that I can’t wait to get started on.

3. Legoland!

This Saturday, the Ohana are road-tripping up to Legoland, Windsor for a day of block related fun! We last went up there just over two years ago, and I’m really excited to see what changes have happened in that time, and we’re all hoping its going to be a little warmer than our last visit which was freezing! Taking trips like these with the family remind me of Disney times 🙂

4. Cinderella, again.

On Wednesday I’m going to see Cinderella for the second time, this time with the bestie. I saw it last week and thought it was beautiful; all I want to do now is swoosh around in a fabulous dress and talk to mice-y friends. This time I’m going to try and concentrate on the details that I probably missed first time round, and try and get some inspiration for blog posts/life.

So this week should shape up pretty nicely!

My Fantasy Mermaid Wardrobe

Now if there’s a Disney princess that’s had the biggest impact on women’s fashion, its Ariel. Since she hit the scene, girls all over the world have been snapping up mermaid inspired clothing and accessories, and I’m not above following this trend!

I couldn’t resist this clam bra crop top from Lookhuman when I stumbled across it last year, and this year I’m looking to add to my wardrobe, so I’ve been doing a little window shopping online and putting together a Fantasy Wardrobe, if you will, starting off with killer swimsuits..

Mermaid swimsuit

Left to right – Baby Ariel Top and Scalloped Bottoms from Margarita Swimwear, Kalama One Piece from PeaceofParadise, Dreamboat Bikini from Margarita Swimwear

So I discovered Margarita Swimwear this week, and I think I’ve become addicted. I entered their Instagram giveaway competition and didn’t win, but they’re giving away discount codes to everyone who entered so I’m super excited to receive mine! This year I’m trying really hard to eat healthier and along with my running training I’m hoping that this will be the year I lose enough weight to be truly happy in a bikini, and these suits are my goal!

Mermemerald leggings from Black Milk Clothing

I love Black Milk, they just do everything perfectly. If I could afford it, I would literally own everything from their Disney collection, but for now I think I’ll just covet these great leggings.

CORAL Urban Mermaid Crop Top

Coral Urban Mermaid Crop Top from Adorkable Apparel

I know I already have a similar top, but you can never really have too many clam bras?! I love the colour, coral is very mermaid-y, and the t-shirt style makes it perfect as a beach cover up.

Guess I better start saving if this wardrobe is ever gonna happen!

Rapunzel Pasta

Ok so I’m a few days late with this post but the last few days have been a bit busy!

Right so today’s foodie post is..

SONY DSC

Rapunzel pasta!

First of all, you’ll need some stelline pasta; its the one that looks like tiny flowers!

SONY DSC

Pour some into little bowls and cover in boiling water

SONY DSC

Drop some food colouring (preferably a good gel colouring, you’ll get stronger colours) into each bowl and give them a good stir

SONY DSC

As you’re not boiling these properly, they’ll need a little longer in the water to cook through and absorb the colouring; leave them for about 10 minutes before you start cooking the regular pasta.

To represent Rapunzel’s braid, I used fusili (the curly kind) but you could use spaghetti or any long/curly pasta. Cook that as per usual, drain it and tip it into a large bowl. Drain the flowers and chuck the in too, give it a stir and ta-da!

SONY DSC

Top with your favourite pasta sauce and serve to princesses!

Rapunzel and Flynn

So this week is a little off the cuff, I was planning on doing Sleeping Beauty this week but one thing lead to another and now its Tangled week! Tangled is without a doubt one of my absolute favourite Disney classic and I don’t keep that fact much of a secret; if you’re a regular reader you probably already know that.

So today I’m putting together Disneybounding outfits for both Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, cos who says us girls can’t smolder too?! (As per usual, click the pictures to link through)

Punzie is fairly easy, you could really wear any lilac/purple-y dress, but I’ve picked out two from the Asos sale for examples.

Image 1 of ASOS Cami Mini Pleated Dress

I love the daisy chain straps of the first dress, what with flowers being a running theme through the film, but the second is a little more fitted, like Rapunzel’s, and has a tie back which reflects the front of her dress a little.

Now I know she’s barefoot through the film, and personally I could live barefoot, but unfortunately can’t 😦

ASOS MARDY Gladiator T-Bar Shoes ASOS FRUITY Jelly Sandals

I was a jelly sandals child, but haven’t yet managed to bring myself to get a pair since they’ve come back into fashion, but I bet if Punz had a pair, that’s totally what she’d be wearing.

Plait your hair, stick some flowers in and you’re good to go!

Careful, here comes the smolder..

If you’ve checked out my Disney bucket list, you’ll know meeting Flynn Rider in Disney World is something I’m dying to do. I did get to see him in the Festival of Fantasy parade though; he winked at me, I fangirled so hard.. But I’m getting off topic now..

Image 1 of New Look Military Shirt

Get a blue shirt (this one is from New Look) and roll up those sleeves. Depending on whether you’d cook or not, wear it on top of a long sleeve white/cream top, like Flynn.

Image 1 of Glamorous Cargo Trouser

Team that with a pair of cargo trousers, like these from Glamorous, and pop on a brown belt, like this Asos choice.

ASOS Tipped Loop Boyfriend Waist And Hip Belt

Finish the look off with some brown boots, another New Look option.

New Look Wide Fit Bobby Multi Strap Ankle Boots

Now where’s my satchel..?

Meeting Characters in Disney World

Character meets can be a truly magical experience for everyone involved!

Make your memories more magical with these top tips:

1. Go to character meals

SONY DSC

A great way to meet loads of characters without having to queue or fight through crowds is to book character meals. These are available in restaurants all over the parks and some deluxe resorts, from princess meals to Mickey and friends to the Winnie the Pooh gang. They’re also great for children who tend to be a little more shy as you’re not being taken out of your comfort zone.

2. Do your research, find out who you can meet and where.

wd031wdw2014239113802175

You’ll be amazed how many characters you can meet throughout the parks, sometimes its just a case of going slightly out of your way to find them. Who are your favourites? Park maps and schedules tell you who you can meet, where they are and what time they’ll be there, from Russell and Doug in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to Mary Poppins in the UK Pavilion at Epcot.

3. Make your meetings special.

wd015wdw2014239113845240

While preparing for your Disney trip, why not have your kids make gifts for their favourite characters? Characters aren’t allowed to accept tips, but you can make their day with drawings or small handmade items; you might even get an extra minute out of it! Alternatively, why not do something different during your character meet? Ask princesses to dance with you, show Mr Incredibles your crime fighting skills!

4. Prepare a few excuses.

wd018wdw2014230110383715

This sounds bad, I promise its not! Kids are curious, and everyone knows how much they love to ask questions, so prepare a couple of white lies for why certain characters don’t speak (‘Goofy’s got a big show later, he needs to save his voice’), or why they take so many breaks (‘I think Pluto’s had a bit too much to drink, toilet time!’).

5. Get autographs

wd013wdw2014227109340753

Get yourself an autograph book, or some kind of alternative (I’ve seen people have characters sign t-shirts, pillowcases etc). You’ll be able to look back at all the characters you’ve met during your trip. Be sure to have a large pen, like a sharpie, as they’re easier for characters with larger hands.

6. Book Fastpasses

wd012wdw2014239113781383

Some characters, especially Elsa and Anna in the Princess Fairytale hall, will have a long queue time if you don’t Fastpass them (Elsa and Anna Fastpasses book out up to 60 days in advance, plan ahead!). You don’t want to take away from the magical experience of meeting your favourite characters with an hour long queue for a 5 minute meet.

7. Decide if meeting characters is something you really want to do

wd033wdw2014229110138251

Character meeting can be time consuming, so if you’re on a tight schedule and you’re not that fussed, don’t waste your time, or a place in a queue that someone else would appreciate more. For younger kids who can’t do as many rides though, characters are the true magic of Disney World.

8. Amaze yourself

wd029wdw2014238113708123

You will truly be amazed by how well characters play their part, so play along with their conversations, or test them by introducing a new topic and see how brilliantly they can cope. On my last trip, Princess Aurora offered to set me up with one of Prince Phillip’s handsome single friends!

9. Appreciate the cast members

wd024wdw2014239113802169

Characters need to take breaks, so sometimes your queue time will be lengthened as they do so. Remember that characters are real people too, so be patient with them.

10. If you only see one character, make it Magician Mickey!

wd033wdw2014239114092984

In the Town Square Theater, you can meet Mickey at his most magical. Take a trip to backstage of Mickey’s magic show, and meet the main man himself in a way you’ve never seen him before, or heard! That’s right, Mickey speaks to you! It is the only opportunity in Disney World to meet him where he can speak to you, answer questions and even show you his latest magic trick!

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Located in Norway in Epcot’s World Showcase, Akershus is one of the lesser know princess character meals, probably because you don’t often see princesses outside of the Magic Kingdom. Nevertheless, I’d read about it on DisneyFoodBlog.com, and I can’t deny they had me at words ‘cheapest princess meal’ (not that it mattered much to us on the Disney Dining Plan), and when travelling with young girls, princesses are super important.

SONY DSC

You’ve gotta hope you visit in good weather, cos you’ll be waiting for your table outside until your ‘Royal Family’ is announced. Before you’re seated, you have the opportunity to have photos taken with one of the visiting princesses, we had Belle. Don’t miss this, you’ll get 3 poses, which during your meal are printed up and presented to you by the end of your meal, all included in the price much to our surprise!

SONY DSC

The dining style is a little odd.. Once seated, you’re invited to serve yourself appetisers from a buffet style selection of bread, sliced meats and cheeses etc. You then select your main from the menu of Scandinavian style options, sit back and enjoy as the princesses come to you!

DSC01614

We were visited by Aurora, Snow White, Ariel and Cinderella, having already met Belle on our way in. They chatted to the girls, signed autograph books and posed for photos, it was a great way of meeting lots of princesses without having to queue elsewhere. Following your meal, there is a prince and princess procession where kids can line up with the princesses and parade around the restaurant to music and applause from everyone else, little ones will love it!

DSC01627

Following the main meal, dessert is served family style; a selection of options are presented on a single plate for you to pick and choose from.

SONY DSC

Overall the food was alright, but definitely wasn’t the best meal we had. That being said, the experience of the meal was great as it meant we got to spend a lot of time with princesses, and the included photo prints were a fab plus!

Disney Princess Converses

I live in Converse All-Stars; have done ever since I got my first pair over 6 years ago. My entire shoe collection, with the exception of one pair of sandals, one pair of heels and two pairs of boots, consist of Converses – high tops for winter and low tops for summer is how I see it!

My dad is also a huge wearer of Converses, and often uses his creative talents to create his own personalised ones on the Converse website’s ‘Design Your Own’ feature, which inspired this Fashion Tuesday post..

In my opinion, All Stars are the best shoes for wearing around Disney parks; lightweight and cool enough for Florida heat, with a solid sole to support your feet, and incredibly hard-wearing. And while they come in a spectacular range of colours and patterns, none of them are Disney enough.. So I spent an evening creating Disney Princess themed shoes, using just the DYO app on the Converse website, and here’s what I came up with:

1. Snow White

1 Snow

2. Cinderella

2 Cinderella

3. Aurora

3 Sleeping Beauty

4. Ariel

4 Ariel

5. Belle

5 Belle

6. Mulan

6 Mulan

7. Tiana

7 Tiana

8. Rapunzel

8 Rapunzel

9. Anna

9 Anna

10. Elsa

10 Elsa

All of these designs can be created and ordered online, please ask if you want to know any more details on any of them! I had so much fun designing them, so with any luck I’ll do some more characters in future posts 🙂

Princess Fashion: Elsa

So this week’s posting is going to be a little jumbled.. I’m super busy preparing for my birthday and a wedding at the end of the week, as well as finishing training for a 10k at the weekend, but I’m doing loads of Disney related stuff so it’ll be fueling a tonne of posts!

This Elsa look centres around this amazing new dress from Hot Topic which I stumbled across yesterday

Isn’t it perfect?!

Its so perfect that it basically covers the entire outfit aspect of the look, but I’ve scoured the internet for a few suitably perfect accessories to add to it..

There’s this aquamarine ring from Sarah Birt Jewellery on Etsy:

These shimmery shoes from are from New Look, and are also available on Asos..

So is this clutch bag:

Ladies and gentlemen, Queen Elsa!
