My Aulani Wardrobe Wishlist

Aulani

So as of Monday, its officially less than 8o days until our trip to Aulani!!!! (I normally hate more than one exclamation mark but one just isn’t enough to show my excitement)

Even when we first booked the trip, we only had about 100 days, which is pretty short notice by my standards, so of course I was immediately struck with the thought that I’d need to start planning outfits asap. Well, I’ve been a little sidetracked with other life stuff going on, and the fact is, I really haven’t put that much thought into it yet, not helped by the fact that I have put myself on a pretty strict spending ban for the whole of January and February while I continue to worry about paying off Christmas, various birthdays and booking everything else involved in this trip.

Problem is, whenever I put myself on a spending ban, I instantly start to window shop, and find more things that I want when I can’t spend than I do when I can, which is typical me, and of course I’ve started to think about my Aulani wardrobe. Cue wishlist..

So despite already having a bunch of cute swimwear, I’ve got my eye on more! I’m having a little dip in body confidence post-Christmas, so I’ve mainly been looking at one pieces, but just because its not a bikini sure as hell doesn’t mean swimsuits can’t be cute! I love the waterfall cut of the blue halterneck from Glamorous and I can definitely see myself lazy around on the beach in that, and I love how fun this cut-out striped piece from River Island is – its definitely got some island vibes to it! And finally, I’m a sucker for pastel and candy stripe, and while I don’t have a chest quite like the model in this swimsuit (I mean, wow!), this Missguided design has my face looking like a heart-eyes emoji.

There’s something about going somewhere warm and beachy that always make me think maxi-dress. I really love this one from Dancing Leopard, and also love the style of this red starry-print mini dress too, I think they’ll both be perfect for wearing to dinner at the resort.

And of course, I’ve gotta have my accessories! How stinkin’ cute is this coconut cocktail bag from Skinnydip?! I feel like that was made for this trip. I also figure that seeing as its technically a Disney resort, I’ve gotta bring some ears with me, right? I was searching Etsy for some more floral crown style ears, and came across this pair from MadMadamMimCo which I think are so perfect for a island look, without being too in-your-face Disney – not that that’s ever a problem for me!

I’m also hoping that I’ll be able to throw a few things together myself for this trip, but as I’m still in the early stages of planning (just without much time to go!), there’s still lots of thinking to do!

My Christmas 2017 Wish List

And another Christmas is upon us, where did that year go, huh?

Every year as I get older I miss the days of spending hours flicking through the Argos catalogue, because I seem to be losing the ability to respond to the question of ‘what do you want for Christmas?’, so I now have the new tradition of sticking it all in a blog post and that way my family have a convenient reference point and I get some fun content out of it!

So what’s on the list this year?

Matthew and I have already agreed that as we both want new earphones, that’s what we’re going to get each other to save the hassle of shopping. I’ve got my eye on the new Fitbit Flyer wireless earphones which were released a few months ago – I’ve seen loads of great reviews for them and I’m hoping they’ll help in my marathon training! And speaking of marathon training, I’m thinking that I might want a small hydration pack for carrying water (and all my other stuff!) on longer runs. Also on the fitness subject, I’ve got my eye on this pretty Fiorelli gym bag!

As per usual, I’m always good with Lush goodies, and my favourite new product from their Christmas collection this year is the Buck’s Fizz body conditioner because it smells SO GOOD. I’m also loving the Angels on Bare Skin facial cleanser right now so wouldn’t say no to a tub of that!

And books, I always love a book.. On the wishlist at the moment is Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for fans of Gilmore Girls because a) I love a recipe book and b) I love Gilmore Girls and this book seems like a good’un. I’m also on a mission to learn to draw, and I’ve seen a few ‘Learn to Draw Disney..’ books on Amazon that look like really great step by step guides.

The last thing on the list will probably be a Christmas present to me from me because I haven’t yet decided what I want and either way its pretty pricey! I’m desperate for a new lens for my Sony A5000 camera, and am currently torn between the 30mm macro and the 50mm – if anyone has any thoughts on the matter please drop me a comment!

What’s on your Christmas list this year?

My Current Disney Wishlist

Happy hump day y’all, its a Wednesday wishlist!

Would you guys believe that on my Disney trip at the start of the month I only bought ONE piece of merchandise?! That’s right, all I bought from Disneyland was a jumper which was actually bought out of necessity on a cool night (although I did also love it!), and I’m just as shocked as you are. So I’m gonna share some other Disney bits that I’ve got my eye on at the moment instead!

My love of anything Its a Small World is no secret. I frequently use the term Small World trash to describe myself, but the Small World trash cans are also a particular favourite of mine – can’t you tell by my love of this Small World trash can phone case from Redbubble, and also the Trashy hat from Spellerific Styles?

I’ve been following Lillian and Co on Instagram and wanting one of their beautiful bracelets for a while now, and I’ve got major heart-eyes for this Tangled inspired quote, and I’ve added myself to the waiting list for the new rose gold Moana one.. And speaking of Tangled, have you seen the beautiful Tangled journal from the Disney Store? I REALLY want one but I think I’d be too scared to ever use it because its so pretty!

Finally, with more Disney trips on the horizon, and more outfits to be planned, I’m tempted to treat myself to some new buttons from Parkbound, but how to decide which ones?!

Have you got your eye on anything at the moment?

My WDW Trip Shopping List

wdw-shopping-list

Considering its only 10 days til I leave for WDW, I feel super unprepared compared to previous trip! What’s even more surprising is that when I started to think about what to include on this list, I actually really struggled!

I know that as soon as I step foot into the first shop, I’ll see a million different things that I want, but there are a few things that I’m going in with the intention of buying..

  • Anatasia Beverly Hills glow kits – not technically Disney, but now there’s a Sephora in Disney Springs, its the perfect opportunity for me to look at getting the two kits that literally turn me into the heart-eyes emoji. I’m a total ABH virgin, but I’m saving my first purchases for a slightly better exchange rate!
  • RunDisney 2017 Vinylmation – I haven’t seen any photos released yet, but usually there’s a new Vinylmation released with each year of races, and its like a combination of my two favourite things: RunDisney and Vinylmations.
  • Teacup mug – I’m not sure if these are still available in the parks, but I LOVE these teacup replica mugs! If I could, I’d get a whole set of them, but I know getting them home would be a nightmare..
  • Happily Ever After princess mug – my mug obsession continues.. I fell in love with this mug the second I saw Amy post a photo of hers and now I need to get one, ha!
  • Park exclusive tsum tsums – whenever I see park exclusive tsum releases, I’m always gutted that I live in the UK and the US Disney Store doesn’t ship to us, so if I see any of these cuties around, I’m gonna be all over them like a rash!

I just hope I can fit everything in my suitcase!

A Blogger’s Christmas Wishes

Blogger Wishes

Its that time of year; the time we put all our hopes into the wrapped goodies that appear in our stockings or under the tree. We’ve published our Christmas wishlists, written gift guides and dropped enough hints on Twitter about our favourite brands and products, so there’s no way we shouldn’t be getting some lovely presents, but what else might us bloggers be wishing for this Christmas? Cue tongue in cheek..

That all our Christmas presents are Instagrammable

Let’s face it, a pile of presents can give us Instagram photos for weeks on end, so if all our presents match our theme and are super pretty and rake in 100+ likes, that’d be fab.

And that we can write some killer review posts

Cos a stocking full of the latest beauty products can’t be forgotten about

To hit our end of year targets

If we manage to reach out Bloglovin follower goal by Christmas and with a week still left to the end of the year, then we stand a pretty good chance of surpassing it before the year is out

People aren’t too busy to keep reading our blogs

I always find my views tend to take a little dip at this time of year as people are busy with Christmas shopping or parties, so if we can maintain our daily view count, it will really be the most wonderful time of the year!

That we can come up with good New Years resolutions

And y’know, stick to them – cos once we publish that post we know our readers might keep an eye out throughout the year..

That all our blogger friend and followers have a lovely Christmas

While the rest of this post has been very much in jest, I think its safe to say that the most important thing that we all wish for at this time of year is that everyone else has as special a Christmas as we do.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My Christmas Wishlist

Tis the season for hint dropping! Falalalala and all..

In all fairness, each year I publish my wishlist so my family can use it as a guide, so this post really kills two birds with one stone, but as I had a pretty mega birthday present this year (hello Lego Disney Castle), I’m really not asking for, or expecting much this year, so I’ve just looked at a few little stocking filler-type gifty bits!

My Christmas Wishlist 2016

Ok, totally gimmicky and probably not very practical, but with 2017 being another year full of races, I’m kinda drawn to light up shoe laces so I can shine my way through Disney, and amazingly, you can get them on Amazon for about £8, which is way less than I thought they’d be!

I may have a few novelty phone cases, but they’re all bulky silicone ones that I don’t use often, and my current plastic one has been dropped a few too many times and is cracked pretty badly now – well, I’d rather that than my phone itself.. Skinnydip have quite a few cute ones, but I came across the Catnut and Caticorn in the sale for under £10 and I think they’re my faves, as well as bargains! Speaking of cute, how adorable is Vinyl Pop Meeko?

Anna Kendrick is now an author? YESSS. Gotta get my hands on Scrappy Little Nobody, she is my sarcastic spirit animal and I think it’ll be a proper giggle.

The last few bits represent a few of my struggles in life: 1. My favourite mascara, Eyeko Black Magic, isn’t available in regular stores like Boots or even Feel Unique, so I’ve been getting by on a tube I’ve had for longer than I care to admit because I can’t be bothered to order it from Selfridges. 2. I’m a nightmare at not only hoarding stationery, but also choosing it. I have to fully vet any potential planner, and having had success with Kikki K before, this Cute planner (actually its name, not just my go-to description) seems like a good choice, although I’m also kinda lusting over the Peony Happiness Planner (not pictured), but as both are undated, at least I’ve got options, ha! 3. I am a cliche rose gold obsessed girl who dreams of being a princess, and the shrewd among you may have noticed this ring on my wishlist last year. It was from my favourite jewellery store on Etsy, so my heart dropped into my stomach when suddenly the store disappeared, but I’ve recently discovered they’ve got their own website now, so yay!

What’s on your Christmas list?

Beach Days Wishlist

Beach Day Ready Wishlist

I dunno about anyone else, but I am so ready for summer to properly start!

I mean, I know that strictly speaking we are officially in summer now, but no one seems to have CC’ed the weather in on that information and I just want the sun to come out to play, especially with one of the UK’s best beaches just a short walk from my house!

If you read my Summer Bucket List, you’ll have seen the first point was getting my girls down to Bournemouth for a good old fashioned day at the beach, fish and chips and ice-cream not optional, and my desperation for this to happen has inspired a classic Wednesday wishlist of fun beachy bits and bobs!

First up is a bit of a cheat because I’ve bought it second hand from a friend of mine, but seriously how cute is this Hello Kitty Instax?! I’ve been going back and forth a bit with the idea of getting a little one, and I couldn’t resist this for beach days as well as my trip to China next month! And along the tech lines, I think this beach radio from Sunnylife is amazing, and I love that you can connect your phone or mp3 player and use it as speakers.

Next up: beach activities! A donut frisbee? Yes please! I mean, I’ve got no hand/eye coordination for throwing and catching, but I think a donut would motivate me to try at least! Once you’re exhausted from all the throwing and running around, food is next on the agenda, kept cool in this multicoloured beauty of a cool bag from Bando.

Now I already have too many swimsuits, but that doesn’t stop me from checking the Asos sale every now and then anyway.. I’m a sucker for an usual design, and this v-shaped ombre beauty is gorgeous! I’m also absolutely obsessed with Spectrum brushes right now, and I’ve got my eye on two different sets: the 10 piece essentials and Siren Smoke eye brushes; I mean, they’re basically meant for mermaids right?!

What are your beach trip essentials?

Summer Vibes Wishlist

I can’t be the only person who, when completely broke and on a total spending ban, spends all my time putting together wishlists, right?

In fact, I’m fairly certain that its this habit of strict budgeting when living for the next payday that leads me to blow my money on everything I’ve been looking at in the past month, and the cycle goes on.. SO ITS SUMMER WISHLIST TIME!

Summer Vibes

So for starters, I’m a bit of a nail varnish snob. For me, its got to be Barry M because a) I think they’re great, and b) it means all my nail varnishes match nicely. The Gelly range is so nice and high shine, perfect for summer, and wouldn’t this shade go so perfectly with this ADORABLE Skinnydip tote bag?! I love Skinnydip, its all just way too cute and this bag is no exception.

This next one’s a little bit of a cheat.. Triangl bikinis are beautiful and as much as I’d love one, they run pretty pricey.. I did, however, read a great post by Georgia from Rent or Chanel about a dupe she bought off eBay, and it looks so good that its giving me the confidence to risk buying one; plus the copies are less than £10 so I kinda feel like I wouldn’t be wasting much!

Next up is this cutie-pie unicorn phone case from Missguided – I’m a real sucker for a silicone phone case, and also for pom poms, hence the addition of this straw fedora, also Missguided. Last up, pastel, ombre and Converses are three of my favourite words. I wear hi tops all through summer, no matter what the weather is doing, so these would be perfect for the beach!

Are you feeling those summer vibes approaching?

My Spring Disneyland Paris Bucket List

Its 20 days until I’ll be getting on the Eurostar and zooming to Paris for a quick few days in Disneyland Paris with some of my lovely Twitter friends, eek!

SONY DSC

Its my first time (as an adult at least) visiting DLP during Spring, and I’ve heard from so many people how magical the season is in the parks, so there are lots of things I’m hoping to do and see on this trip..

Forest of Enchantment

I’ve been so good at avoiding vlogs, Periscopes and basically any form of spoiler about this show so I can enjoy it properly when we’re out there. Just knowing that it includes Tangled, Tarzan and Pocahontas has got me fangirling!

Minnie’s Spring Train

Minnie Mouse, bunnies and Disney music = yay!

Go to Princess Pavilion

I improved my character interactions so much on my January trip, so I can’t wait to meet some more princesses and have a magical time!

Meet characters in Spring costumes

I’m really hoping to meet at least one character in their beautiful bright Spring outfits, they’re so gorgeous!

‘It’s a Small World’

Total guilty pleasure of mine, but it was closed during my birthday trip for refurb, so I definitely need one ride or 100 to get my fix.

Extra Magic Hours

I’m going to be getting my annual pass on this trip, and I can’t wait to enjoy extra time in the parks in the mornings with my girls!

Have you ever been to Disneyland Paris during Spring?

Another Fitness Wishlist

Its been a little while since I shared a wishlist with you, and you know they basically go one of two ways: Disney or fitness. Today is the latter!

Keeping fit is such a huge part of my life now, and I’m forever looking for new ways to stay motivated, whether it be new workout clothes, adding something new and different to my routine or finding some great new healthy recipes, and I’ve found myself once again making lists of things to blow my hard-earned cash on..

Wishlist

I love how colourful this one is too!

So first up we’ve for the Eco Yoga Towel from Yoga Design Lab, which is so beautiful and bright I fell in love! I know its not a proper yoga mat, but I’ve got one of them and I think this would be great to take down to the beach in the summer and I miss doing yoga so I think a new toy will get my butt back into gear with my inner self.

How cute is this pastel foam roller and band set from Tone It Up? You might be familiar with their Youtube workouts, but they also sell cute fitness gear! I’ve been thinking about getting my own foam roller for a while now, and this mint/coral combo is perfect! Another recovery item, after having issues with my knee for a few months now, I’m looking to get a trigger point massage stick in the near future.

Ok, another fitness craze that I’m kinda wanting to get into is the weighted hula hoop. Now I’ve always been awful at hula hooping, but I still wanna try it and I think this multi-coloured hoop is the prettiest!

A relatively new fitness brand to the scene, Pink Soda clothing is available from JD Sports, and I’m crushing on this mint/black reversible sports bra big time! Rounding out this wishlist, I’m a real sucker for a cookbook, and Get the Glow by Madeleine Shaw looks like its going to be packed with healthy, wholesome foodie goodness.

Are you gearing up for a summer of fitness fun? Don’t forget to follow my #YearOfFit series!

A Lush Wishlist

Unfortunately, the concept of ‘lazy Sundays’ isn’t one that I’m accustomed to. Lie ins, brunch and pyjamas are all alien, replaced instead with a 6am alarm, work uniform and a quick cereal bar before I leave the house; retail work problems, right?

The one silver lining though is that by starting work at 7am, I’m normally finishing around 1/2pm, giving me what’s left of my Sunday to chill out just a little, and something I’m actually really looking forward to in the next month is our new bathroom.

lus

Ok, so I know the link between Sundays and my new bathroom is a little weak, but here’s the deal: currently, I do not like baths. To me, they are the furthest thing from relaxing, and I blame this view entirely on our current bath which is super shallow, so no matter what I do, some part of my body is sticking out of the water and freezing; not cool. Our new bath, however, is pretty beautiful, and I’m really hoping that it’ll show me what everyone tells me I’m missing out on with a hot bath, and celebrate it with a mini Lush haul!

Top Row: Ultraviolet Bubble Bar / Bouncing Bunny Shower Jelly / Supernova Bath Bomb / Blueberry Roulade Smoothie
Bottom Row: Foot Soak and Fancy Free / Intergalactic Bath Bomb / Silky Underwear Dusting Powder

I think that’ll start me off nicely, don’t you? Let me know you’re must-have products!

My Disney Trip Shopping List

No big deal or anything, but this time next week I’LL BE IN DISNEY WORLD!!!!!

I am 100% too excited to think about anything other than Disney at this stage, and we all know how much I love planning right(?) so I’ve been thinking a lot about how I’m gonna blow my spending money, and today I’m going to share some of the pieces I’m hoping to pick up on my trip!

Cogsworth clock and Chip mug

When we were in Disney World back in 2014, I was desperate for one of the newly released Chip mugs, but they were sold out everywhere waa! Now they’re not as new and Disney have picked up production, hopefully I won’t have any problems picking one up! The problem might be with Cogsworth, who was only released a few months ago, but I’m determined to bring him home with me to go with Lumiere, who I bought in Disneyland Paris.

I have a few Alex and Ani bracelets already, all bought on eBay; I have a Rapunzel one, as well as 3 of the 4 WDW park ones, so I need Epcot to complete my collection, and I might see if I can pick up the Disneyland ones in California too!

Disney parks are the only places where I actually like Starbucks, and I’ve been kinda lusting over the park ‘you are here’ mugs, but at $15 a pop, I may rethink that once I get there!

Back in 2014 I bought the Thomas Kinkade Tangled box canvas; it was beautiful and although a little pricey, but it meant something for me to be able to buy it. I’d love to get another one, but I don’t know how I could choose!

I’m also going to be keeping some money aside for the RunDisney Fitness Expos. They partner with New Balance to release limited edition trainers for the events, as well as having a bunch of exhibitors selling cool stuff, so its an excuse for me to do some more shopping!

And honestly, I think that’s it for me! Well, in terms of planned purchases anyway, no one with a credit card can resist Disney merch really!

Do you plan what you want to buy on your Disney trips?

My Christmas Wishlist

If it isn’t already abundantly clear, I love Christmas. Well, who doesn’t really?!

And in these modern times, I’m sure Santa spends more time checking blog wishlists than he does reading physical letters! So here’s mine:

xmas list 2015

1. Reversible Troll soft toy from The Disney Store

I’m totally obsessed with this little guy, I think he’d make the best travel pillow for my trip in January!

2. Lets Do Lunch business card holder from Kate Spade

Simple and elegant, this makes my inner business-woman very happy!

3. Duff Bakes cookbook from Amazon, among other sellers

Ever since the first time I watched an episode of Ace of Cakes, I have worshipped Duff, and now he’s released a book, I need it in my life!

4. Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar from Lush

I love Lush, but as I’m not a bath person, its their haircare and shower products that do it for me! I had a shampoo bar years back and loved it, so definitely up for trying another one.

5. Best Day Ever raglan shirt from Happily Ever Tees

I’ve discovered these guys on Instagram and I’m dying to wear this shirt in the parks in January!

6. Crown ring from Applelatte on Etsy

I’m a huge fan of this store on Etsy, they make amazingly pretty jewellery, and this ring in the rose gold colour is beautiful!

7. Funko Pop Maximus from Amazon, among other sellers

When the Tangled collection was released recently I rushed to get Rapunzel, so now I just need this little cutie!

8. Red Converse All Star High Tops

My shoe collection is pretty much 90% Converses, and I’m not even ashamed of that, so if Santa could bring me red high tops in a size 6, they’ll be much appreciated for my January Disney trip!

9. Sugar Daddy-O solid conditioner from Lush

Another hair product – I can’t live with dirty hair, and I like to believe maybe a solid conditioner will reduce the amount of bottles I get through!

Are you asking Father Christmas for anything special this year?

#fitfordisney – A Fitness Lustlist

Happy, healthy Wednesday everyone, good day to you all!

Today I’ve put together what I like to call my fitness ‘lustlist’. Its sort of like a wishlist, except full of wonderfully expensive products that I could never justify spending the money on, and that’s ok, because I’m happy to admire them from a distance! Sure, if I won the lottery or something, they’d definitely be on my shopping list, but while I find them beautiful, I can live without them, I just thought it would be fun to share a few with you!

lustlist

First of all, there’s Rundies! Yes, as the name suggests, undies for running, kinda like day-of-the-week pants, but with different runs printed on them, cute right?! $65

Sweaty Betty is a fitness brand that prides itself with beautifully designed workout clothes, and the Chromo Run Tee (top centre) and Ultra Run Bra (bottom right) are no exceptions! £125 and £42

I’m also a sucker for a bit of Nike, which I think makes me a bit of a fitness snob, but hey ho! I’m not 100% sure why, but I kind of love the Pro Engineers Giraffe Training Tights (bottom left) and I love the colour and design of the Dri-Fit Knit Epic Crew Training Top! £50 and £47.99

We also know how much I love Fabletics, right? The Moorea Bra (centre) is such a nice change of design from regular sports bras, and comes in a few different colours too! £30 (or £22 for VIP)

And finally, despite my general favouritism for Nike running shoes, these Asics GT-1000 are such a lovely colour! £97

Quite a stunning selection right? Do you have a lustlist too?

xoxo

Five before Twenty-Five

I spent most of my childhood dreaming about being an adult. I always just wanted to grow up, but now I’m actually an adult, I kind of can’t believe its true, especially the thought of turning 21 in less than 4 months!

And although I am an adult now, I still spend most of my time thinking about my adulthood dreams, and who and where I want to be when I grow up. Now I’m a real sucker for setting impossible targets, then putting up with the inevitable disappointment of not hitting them, and I’m really working on changing this habit, so as far as the next few years go, I’m just going to set five goals, some a little far out, but all possible if I work crazy hard to make them happen!

1. Personal: Move out

I love living at home, I really do, and I can’t imagine what it will be like not living with my parents, but I really don’t want to be 25 and still sleeping in my childhood bedroom! I never went away to university like my sister did, so I think it’ll be a huge culture shock, but I’ve always dreamed of having my own place and although I have no immediate plans to fly the nest (especially given my next point), its definitely something to look into in the next few years.

2. Professional: Open a shop

If you keep up to date with me, you might have heard me talk about my cake business, which I’m super proud of, and my ultimate goal is to open a cake shop in my hometown of Bournemouth, and be able to dance around a kitchen full-time. I’ve been playing around with this thought for the last few years, but when I come back from my Tokyo Disney trip in July, its going to become a top priority for me, and I really hope that 2015/16 is the year of Lottie’s Cupcakes!

3. Fitness: Run a marathon

If I’d had said this to myself a year ago, I would have laughed so hard at how ridiculous it sounds, but I actually like to think that it might be possible. I’m not saying this year, or even next year, and probably only just the one time, but I think by the time I turn 25 I’d like to be able to say that I’ve completed a marathon! Spoiler: it will be a Disney one.

4. Travel: Go on a solo holiday

I’m so lucky to have been able to visit all the incredible places in the world that I have done, and am eternally grateful to my parents for all of those experiences, but I have never actually travelled anywhere without them, or as part of a school group; I’ve never even been on a holiday with friends! With that in mind, single gal I am, I’m really excited to be going on a road trip in October around Europe, and although I will be meeting my family for a weekend in Disneyland Paris, I’ll be doing the rest of the two week excursion with only my thoughts for company; call me crazy!

5. Just for fun: Read at least 25 of The Guardians Top 100 Greatest Novels

This might not sound like a hoot to some, but I do love to read and I hate how little time I can find, and also that I didn’t read more classics while I was at school. I think 25 is a doable number, its about 6 books a year, so one every 2 months.. It helps that I recently discovered Penguins Clothbound Classics, which are beautiful books and I’m hoping to build up a nice little collection of them!

Five goals, four years and 3 and a bit months, can I do it?

Dream Home with HomeLife Direct

I don’t keep it much of a secret how much time I spend thinking about my dream home, and although I write a lot of wishlists about home decor dreams, I often overlook furniture!

So when I was invited to take part in HomeLife Direct’s Dream Home Competition, I jumped at the opportunity to browse their selection of beautiful, good quality furniture, and pick out a few favourites to share!

HomeLife Direct

The products on the site are categorised by room, making it super easy to browse and visualise where your picks will fit into your home!

Now quite honestly, I’ve never really pictured my dream home with a conservatory (wicker furniture is always something that reminds me of my gran’s house!), but I had a little browse of their range anyway, and was surprised to be quite taken with the Chester Banana Leaf collection:

Chester Banana Leaf Conservatory Suite Set

I definitely picture my dream home having more of a contemporary design. I love simplicity and clean lines, so the Geo Oak range of dining room and living room furniture caught my eye.

Geo Oak Dining Set

This is the extendable dining set, and I love that you can choose your own fabrics for the seat pads to make it your own style!

Geo Oak Media Unit

There’s also a selection of matching furniture, like this media unit, and sweet drawers and tables to tie everything together. I just really like the simplicity of the design; it could fit into any home!

Finally, my favourite piece, and this is a total guilty pleasure item..

Orange Faux Leather Tub Chair

I know, I know, it probably doesn’t fit in with all the other classic items I’ve already talked about, but I love tub chairs, and this orange faux leather one is so bright and beautiful. It would be perfect to curl up in with a book!

All of the materials used by HomeLife Direct are from sustainable sources, which is a big plus for me, and they offer free UK delivery and a 12 month warranty with every product!

What furniture would be in your dream home?

Dreaming of Mickey Ears

You guys, I am so excited for all my upcoming Disney trips. I say all because between now and the end of January, I’ll have visited not one, not even two or three, but FOUR different Disney parks!

If you keep fairly up to date with my plans and adventures, you’re doing the math at the moment and coming up one park short, because I’ve only talked about Japan (which is 60 days away!) and my RunDisney tour of both Disney World Florida and Disneyland California, but here’s the thing.. I’ll be turning 21 in October, and I’ll be doing that crucial bit of ageing in Disneyland Paris!

Nothing has been booked just yet, but I’m super buzzed to announce that I’ll be in Disneyland Paris from Friday 2nd October til Sunday 4th, with my birthday being the Saturday. The visit will actually be part of a whole European road trip I’ll be venturing out on, and I’ll obviously blog through the whole planning of the trip, but today I want to talk Mickey ears.

With all these majorly exciting visits to various Disney lands and worlds, I need to make sure I’m fully stocked up on these essential accessories, so I’ve spent the afternoon scrolling through my favourite shopping site, Etsy, to pick out some handmade beauties that I’d love to add to my collection.

As with all wishlists, just click on the photos, and you’ll be linked straight to the item, which will open in a new tab so you can keep reading!

Disney Travel Bucket List

So a little while ago I wrote my Disney Bucket List, which I’m constantly adding to and, luckily, ticking off, and it covers most things Disney, including Disney parks.

Today, however, I’m looking at the great wide world, and the many places (mainly castles!) that have inspired some of my favourite Disney movies that I’d love to check out for myself!

.

°o° Mont St. Michel, France – inspiration for the beautiful kingdom of Corona

°o° Chateau de Chillon, Lake Geneva – Prince Eric’s real world palace

°o° Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany – the incredible Bavarian castle that has inspired elements of most of Walt Disney’s classics

°o° Alsace, France – Belle’s beautiful home village

°o° Notre Dame Cathedral, France – home of our favourite hunchback

°o° Dunnottar Castle, Scotland – Pixar’s inspiration for the film, Brave

°o° Machu Picchu, Peru – inspiration for Pacha’s home village in The Emperor’s New Groove

°o° New Orleans, Louisiana – the 1920’s setting of The Princess and the Frog

°o° Angel Falls, Venezuela – Carl’s dream retirement spot

°o° Route 66, USA – the real life setting of Pixar’s Cars

°o° Taj Mahal, India – Princess Jasmine’s beautiful home

Have Courage and Be Kind

We are lucky enough to be having some totally gorgeous weather in Bournemouth this week, so today I am blogging from a picnic mat in my garden while soaking up some sun and imagining I’m in Florida!

So yesterday I went to see Cinderella in the cinema again, and second time round I was still blown away by the beauty of it, not just visually but also the messages it conveys.

“Have courage and be kind”

For so few words, this quote has so much power. You may not think that courage and kindness are really all that linked, but in life I think that kindness can sometimes take a whole lot of courage; sometimes we just don’t want to always be kind, sometimes we think we’ll feel better by belittling people whether it be in words or just in our own minds, but does that really makes us a good person, even if we temporarily feel better for it?

No, it doesn’t. Kindness is selfless, and unfortunately that is why so many people choose to ignore their kind urges, because they don’t believe it will serve any purpose to themselves, but that is where many are wrong. Kindness is not innate, we must learn how to be kind and in doing so we must discover our own way to enjoy it, whether it be that warm fuzzy feeling you get from helping another living being, or just appreciating a simple thank you.

“They treat me as best they can”

We cannot expect kindness from those we do not treat in the say way. Although Cinderella isn’t treated right by her new step-family, she can appreciate that that is simply the only way they know how to act, and does not restrict her kindness to them, as she hopes that through her kindness they may learn it too. How simple would it have been to tell Kit that she was not treated well? Perhaps she thought about saying that. But in her heart Cinderella is grateful that she is not treated worse, as she knows she could be. She has lost so much that she has learnt to appreciate what she still has, which is a purpose to keep on going.

“But kindness, kindness makes it everything”

And the Fairy Godmother was right: kindness improves everything. Its like service vs. service with a smile, there isn’t anything we do that cannot be improved with the addition of kindness. I don’t imagine anyone has ever said ‘the only thing that could have improved that would be if they hadn’t been as nice’, and if they have then I feel sorry for that person, who cannot appreciate the act of kindness that they were lucky enough to have received. Kindness is a gift we all must learn to appreciate from others, and be generous enough to share with those around us.

“Will you take me as I am?”

Acceptance of others; it is a thing that in this world I cannot imagine why it is so difficult, yet is is a thing that occurs so frequently that we believe it to be normal. In order to accept others, we must allow ourselves to see them as they truly are, see past whatever assumptions and negativity we want to put upon them and understand why they are who they are. To give someone your understanding is a great kindness, and you may find that they are kind enough to give you theirs in return. And if they don’t, you must try to understand why they cannot, and learn that this is not a reason to withhold kindness from them, as it may be that it is something they do not understand.

“I forgive you”

The power of these three little worlds is astonishing, for without forgiveness the world would be a very different place, and if more people believed in the act of forgiveness then it would also be much changed, but for the better. If Cinderella can forgive her step-mother for her poor treatment and even imprisonment, then why is it so difficult for those of us who suffer so very little to forgive those who wrong us in such minor ways. What does forgiveness cost us?

Nothing. And those who do not expect forgiveness will be more changed for knowing it; being forgiven for wrongs we have committed shows true courage and kindness from our victims, which we in turn must learn to have and appreciate.

“The fairest and kindest”

We must all endeavour to be described as such. We must compete with ourselves to constantly become a better person than who we were before, always improving with time, and learning to show kindness and forgiveness to not only those around us, but also to ourselves. If we cannot be kind and understanding of ourselves, the person we truly know best, then how can we know how it feels to do the same for others. We must look at ourselves in the mirror and see the person we are, and where we have come from to be where we stand today. We must always be the best versions of ourselves, but know that everyone is capable of mistakes, and therefore we must forgive ourselves for them.

So will you make the pledge with me: to have great courage and learn true kindness? From here on out I promise to always try to find the courage for kindness, to understand and forgive others who cannot, and accept them for who they are. I promise to try to make everything better by adding kindness, and always strive to be the fairest and kindest person I can be, and forgive myself when I struggle to be so.

Are you with me?

Disney Art Wishlist

There is so much beautiful Disney artwork out there. My collection started when I fell in love with Thomas Kinkade paintings in Epcot last summer, and I ended up bringing home a canvas box print of his Tangled piece. Since then I added to it with a Finding Nemo World of Disney print from the Disney Store, which I got for Christmas.

So today I’m sharing a few more beauties that I’d love to have in my future home!

Honey Lemon Disney Watercolor Print, Big Hero 6 Watercolor Poster, Kids Decor, Girl Room Wall Art, Not Framed, Buy 2 Get 1 Free! [No. 46-1]

After watching Big Hero Six when it came out, I immediately fell in love with Honey Lemon as she is literally me in Disney character form; I’ve never really totally identified with a single princess, but a yellow loving chemistry nerd is me to a tee.

These Art of Aurora lithographs from the Disney Store are really sweet. Sleeping Beauty was my favourite princess as a kid, so I’ve got a total soft spot for anything Aurora.

Free Delivery

Another from the World of Disney collection, this Up! print would go perfectly with my Finding Nemo one.

TachaDesigns on Redbubble has the best collection of watercolour silhouettes of Disney Parks. This is the California Disneyland print, but there is also Disneyland Paris, and all of the Disney World parks, and I’d love the full set!

Another few Thomas Kinkade designs from the Disney Dreams collection.. The full images are actually rectangular, but my box canvas print from Epcot was square, and I’d love a few more of those to go with my Tangled one.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do tomorrow, but it seems to be turning into a wishlist week, so I’ll come up with something!

Disney Kitchen Wishlist

I love window shopping; its what I spend at least half of my time on the internet doing, and of all the window shopping I do, most of that is for my dream home of the future. I know that’s probably a little way off, but a girl can dream, right?

So today I’m featuring a few of my favourite goodies that add a bit of Disney magic to the kitchen!

kit

1. Mickey and Minnie Salt and Pepper Shakers from Disney Store

2. Mrs Potts hand painted teapot from Hannah’s Hut on Etsy

3. Finding Nemo Cookie Jar from Hot Topic

4. Azul Plate from Disney Store

5. Mickey Casserole Dish from Disney Store

6. Simba and Pumbaa Salt and Pepper Shakers from Hot Topic

7. Starbucks ‘you are here’ mugs exclusive to the relevant Disney Parks

For someone who doesn’t drink tea or coffee, I own a lot of mugs, pretty much all of which are Disney, so I’ve tried to avoid looking at mugs, but I’m totally in love with the Starbucks ‘you are here’ mugs. You can only get them in the park they represent, and there are six altogether as you can also get ones for the California Disneyland parks, so I’m hoping if they’re still available I’ll be able to pick up each one in January! I also dream of owning a proper Mrs Potts and Chip tea set, so when I stumbled across this beauty on Etsy, I had to add it to my favourites.

As well as great clothes, Hot Topic also has a great collection of Disney homeware. I struggle to choose favourites, but thought today I’d feature the Finding Nemo cookie jar and Lion King salt and pepper shakers.

The Disney Store obviously has a fab lot of kitchenware, and the newly released Azul Dining Collection has definitely tickled my fancy; there are dining plates, bowls, mugs etc, but they’re selling quick! I also love the casserole dish, there was a similar one in the Disney parks.

Tomorrow I’m going to do a little feature of my favourite Disney artwork 🙂
