10 Autumn/Winter Essentials Under £10

The weather has truly turned, so there’s now no denying that we are properly into the season of brown leaves and grey skies. Its time to hang up the summer dresses, put away the bikinis and accept that its starting to get dark before 6pm and you’ll need to bring your emergency umbrella everywhere with you.

Suddenly half of your wardrobe becomes obsolete, your skin starts going crazy and your starting to think about how much all the Christmas presents (yes I said it) you’ll need to buy in the coming months will cost you, so splashing out on all new stuff for yourself seems impossible, but I’ve got you covered with a few things that will help you survive the time without breaking the bank..

Colourblock jumper, £10, Primark

Pastel, woolly and cosy, check! Who said you have to stick to mustard and berry shades this autumn?

Full of Grace serum bar, £8.25, Lush

A lovely Lushie in my local store showed me this skincare wonder, which leaves skin feeling soft and smooth for days! Use as a standalone product, or apply it before using a face-mask to help the goodness soak in!

Proof It! Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer, £6, NYX

There’s nothing worse than spending a few minutes walking through drizzle to discover that its destroyed your whole face. I have genuinely tested this under running water and saw no budge so yeah this badboy works!

Chelsea boots, £8, Primark

New boots can cost the earth, but these are crazy comfy and available in a bunch of different colours too!

Charity Pot 45g, £3.75, Lush

Cold weather can be so drying for your skin, and not only does this little pot fit nicely into a handbag or desk drawer, it also does wonderful things for some amazing causes. Psst! If you collect 5 black pots you can exchange them for a free fresh face mask!

Pink Peg Trousers with Bow, £22 £9, ASOS

I am obsessed with these trousers. I bought them on a whim and didn’t think they’d be my style but for £9 thought ‘why not?’, but I actually want to wear them all the time!

Smart Nail Lacquer in Melon, £2.50, KIKO

Because melon sounds so much nicer than mustard, and this nail paint is cruelty free and a total bargain!

Campfire Singalong 8oz candle jar, £7.50, Maple and Whisky

Fill your home with the smell of bonfires and toasted marshmallows, but I warn you, this candle will make you hungry!

Meteor Storm eyeshadow palette, £9.99, Barry M

I’ve had my eye on this palette for a little while now and I think when payday comes round this will have to be mine. Its got copper, its got berry tones and its full of shimmer!

A travel mug

Did you know that a lot of coffee places do discounts if you bring in your own travel mug? There are tonnes of cute ones out there these days too!

Hello Autumn

Hello Autumn

Ok, I know Autumn doesn’t officially start for a few more days, but why can’t the seasons just fit around my blogging schedule? I joke, of course..

I’m seeing so many people getting excited for Autumn – I’ve even seen some people who have been wishing away Summer in exchange for Autumn! I am not one of those people.

Autumn is an interesting one for me. It obviously contains my birthday, and starts the run up to Christmas (MY FAVE), but other than that, I don’t get excited about all the things that gets the rest of the world buzzed for; the Starbucks menu, Halloween etc..

But I like to keep things positive, so here are a few things that this season brings:

Onesies

I could quite happily wear my onesies all the time, but its just way too hot in the summer, so the autumn weather brings onesie season back!

Chelsea boots

I bought my first pair of chelsea boots last year and completely fell in love with them, so its time to go out leaf crunching in these beauties!

Tomato soup

As soon as the weather starts to get cooler, I ditch my lunchbox in exchange for my microwaveable soup mug and start buying Heinz Cream of Tomato in bulk..

Carving pumpkins

While I wouldn’t consider myself as Halloween’s biggest fan, I do love carving pumpkins – last year I did four!

Running conditions

I HATE running through the summer, but autumn has just the right combination of cool breezes and sunshine and as long as the rain stays at bay I’m a happy runner!

Christmas creeping up!

I know most people hate how early Christmas appears in the shops, but Christmas is truly my favourite time of year and it gets me so so soo excited!

Homemade Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream

Marshmallows are life.

Ice-cream is also not just for summer, so now we’re heading into the autumn months its time for a few warmer flavours, and I think this is my new favourite. Move over Ben and Jerry, Lottie is on the scene right now.

Toasted Marshmallow Icecream

And d’you know what? This was so easy.

Are you ready?

1. Preheat an oven to 220C.

2. Whisk 500ml of whipping cream until its stiff enough to hold peaks, but not overwhipped.

3. Cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper, spread out 2 cups of mini marshmallows, and bake for 4 minutes

4. While the marshmallows are baking, pour a can of sweetened condensed milk (397ml is the standard size) into the cream, and fold in carefully with a metal spoon.

5. Once the marshmallows have baked, quickly scrape all the melted marshmallow goop into the cream mixture and stir through the mix. Don’t worry about larger lumps or more toasted bits, they add great texture!

6. Pour the mix into a large loaf tin or container, and freeze for 6-8 hours, then scoop and serve!

Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream

Toasted Marshmallow Icecream

You could turn this into a s’mores sundae by adding warm chocolate sauce and cookie crumbs and enjoy by a bonfire while toasting more marshmallows..

You are welcome.

Happy September!

Happy September everyone! I can’t believe we’re here already – summer is over, my 21st birthday is right on the horizon, and we’re now finally in the month where I’ll be beginning my European adventure!

september.jpeg

And rather than reflecting back on the last month, I’m looking forward to some great times coming, and in order to have a totally positive and happy month, here are the 10 things I’m doing this month to boost myself:

1. Getting crazy organised

I’m a total organisation freak, and I love planning my time, writing to-do lists etc, and while it might seem kinda crazy, planning every detail of my life gives me total peace.

2. Goal of the week

The feeling of success is totally satisfying, I think everyone can agree on that, so to give myself a little boost, I’m starting to set a ‘goal’ for each week. Now we’re not talking anything major, it can be anything from finishing a book to clearing out my wardrobe to completing a blog post or project; just something that I want to get done.

3. Strict savings goals

With my upcoming trips to Europe and America, as well as keeping my future in mind, I’ve been setting myself some pretty strict savings and spending plans, and while sometimes it means I get annoyed with myself when I want to be frivolous, seeing my account balances go up and my spending going down is a pretty nice feeling.

4. Meal planning

Another organisation point, I’m making a real effort at the moment to plan my meals and snacks in an attempt to ensure I’m eating right. With all our training for Run Disney in January, and wanting to get generally fitter and healthier, the key is really in the planning.

5. Tough Mudder training

In a moment of madness, I agreed to join a team of people from work taking part in a Tough Mudder event at the end of the month, eek! I’m throwing myself into training because its getting so close and I’m totally terrified of some of the obstacles, but I know it will be a great experience!

6. Keeping a tidy room

(My mum will laugh at this) A tidy bedroom makes me feel totally at peace, and I’ve just spent the last week getting back on top of things after a slight lapse.. I’ve got new shelves up, I’ve reorganised my candles, and I’m starting the month with clean bedding, cos who doesn’t love fresh sheets!?

7. More sewing projects

In order to keep myself busy (and not spending money) I’m really getting back into sewing. I’ve got running costumes to make, cosplays to finish and plenty of other ideas to bring to reality, as well as a wardrobe full of my fabric hoard that I need to use!

8. More Twitter chats

I still consider myself a bit of a Twitter newbie, but I’m definitely getting there, and I recently took part in my first Twitter chat and I LOVED IT. I love chatting to other bloggers, and I’m finding chats to be so positive that I’m really looking forward to getting involved with lots more.

9. My Disney girls

For a bunch of girls I haven’t actually met yet, these girls make me so happy. I’m lucky enough to have ‘met’ so many amazing friends through Instagram and Twitter, all of which share my love of Disney, and its gone from occasional comments to Facebook chat and Whatsapp groups, and I really hope we get to all hang out some time soon because they’re fab.

10. EUROPEAN ROAD TRIP

YES. At the end of this month I’ll be departing on the first leg of my solo road trip around Europe! As well as a weekend in Disneyland Paris with the family for my 21st birthday, I’m gonna be hitting some amazing places in France, Switzerland, Germany and The Netherlands in a two-week extravaganza tour of cities, castles and countryside, and I’m so excited!

Such exciting times ahead, as well as a month packed with blog posts so bring it on!

What are you up to this September?
