The Disney Favourites of my Childhood

I was born in 1994, which was the year that The Lion King was released, and my first Disney trip was actually while my mum was still pregnant with me, so its pretty safe to say that Disney has been ingrained in me from birth.

I was lucky enough to be born at a time that meant my childhood was filled with some absolute Disney bangers, and I remember watching so many of them, although at that time it was all VHS. The films and the characters from this time all still hold a really special place in my heart, and many of them are still firm favourites of mine, but there are a few in particular that stand out for me.

Sleeping Beauty

Aurora was my favourite princess while I was a kid. I let this slip from my memory a little but my mum reminded me a few years ago and it all came back to me. I remember having a Sleeping Beauty towel (which may still be in our garage somewhere) and I had an Aurora doll, in the pink dress, although I’m firmly Team Blue, and think I may have been as a child as well. Aurora may have been replaced as my favourite princess (oh hey, Rapunzel) but I’ll always remember this.

101 Dalmatians

Animal lover from the start, those spotty pups were particular favourites of mine, and I even had 101 Dalmatian wall stickers all over my bedroom walls and door – in fact, the ones on my door stayed there right up until I redecorated in 2009.

Esmeralda

I loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame as a child, and I had a playset that had the festival tent and various other props, as well as an Esmeralda doll which I adored. Of course at that age I had no idea about some of the darker aspects of the story, I just thought Esmeralda was the best.

Meeko

I seem to recall Pocahontas being a favourite of both mine and my sister’s, but the love affair with Meeko was all mine. I remember being so incredibly excited meeting him in what I’m guessing must have been Wilderness Lodge, where this iconic photo was taken after I pretty much rugby tackled him to the ground.

To this day I have such a strong attachment to this little raccoon.

Pluto

We did a lot of Disney trips when I was little, and although thinking back on it, it would possibly be construed as animal abuse, every time I met Pluto I had to pull on his big red tongue. He never seemed to mind though!

Hercules (but mainly Meg)

A truly iconic film of my childhood, if you ask me. I wasn’t so interested in Herc himself, but I loved Pegasus and Meg, even if I didn’t appreciate her sass as a kid. Does anyone else remember the Disney Channel Hercules series? I remember being so upset that Meg wasn’t in it!

And of course there’s not a single photo of me and Mickey where I’m not grinning my little dimples off! Are there any characters you remember strongly from your childhood?

August Achievements

Do not ask me where August has gone because I genuinely have no idea, but I thought rather than wrapping up the month with my usual ‘favourites’ post, I’d go for something a little different and finish the month in a more positive way by talking about some of the things I have achieved this month!

Blog blog blogging

Over the last few months, my blog has taken a little bit of a hit as a result of other commitments, but I really feel like I’ve gotten back into the swing of things and I’m super happy that my stats are reflecting that too! I was absolutely blown away with the response to ‘A Bloody Shame‘, which is definitely the most controversial and personal post I think I’ve ever written, but the number of people who agreed with the points raised in the post just proved to me that putting myself out there and sharing my experience was absolutely worth it.

Work work working

Over the last few months I have put in so much overtime at work, and I’ve finally completed all my pledged hours – yay! While I’ve probably done nothing but moan about it while I was actually doing it, the money I’ve made from giving up days off and weekends has meant I’ve been able to pay of my Walt Disney World trip in November and finally have enough money to book the flights, so definitely worth it!

What I’ve made

I’ve been busy at the sewing machine getting outfits ready for upcoming Disney trips, and this month I’ve made the cutest coral polka dot skater skirt, which will feature in one of my Disney Cruise Disneybounds, as well as accessorising some items with my new patch designs which you can buy on my Etsy!

Bikini body confidence

Despite saying that I wasn’t going to buy any more swimwear this year, I slipped while on Asos and bought two bikinis, and not only do I love them, I actually like the way I look in them. It may take a little push to wear them in public, but baby steps, right? Plus, I stepped out of my comfort zone last week and actually posted a photo of myself in a swimsuit on Twitter!

Milestones

This month I finally cracked the 1.7K follower mark on Instagram – yippee! While I doubt I’ll be hitting my goal for the year, just hitting the next milestone seems like such a mission on Insta at the moment so I’m pretty happy. I also pipped the 2.4K on Twitter and 750 on Bloglovin, and am now creeping up to 800!

January Favourites

January Favourites

Can someone tell me how a whole month of 2017 has already gone by?! You know the drill, here’s some of my January highlights:

The Happiest Fitness Co’s ZPD pre-order

I’d been sitting on this design for a while, and because I wanted the shirt for my upcoming Disney trip, I decided to get a sample made for myself.. The response was overwhelming, which pushed me to list the design for pre-order straight away. People supporting my small business make me so happy, and you can still get your hands on the first batch here!

Sony 55-210mm telescopic lens

I’ve harped on about my excitement for my new lens for a while now, but I finally got to really take it out for a spin on my Disneyland Paris trip a few weeks back and it totally lived up to the hype. I took some awesome photos, but also managed to lose my SD card with the majority of my photos on..

Nars Laguna bronzer

I recently got a sample of one of Nars most popular products with my Feel Unique Pick’n’Mix, and having now used it I can 100% see why its so religiously raved about. I’m not normally super into bronzer, but with the summer coming up, I think this will definitely be going onto my wishlist.

Lush Tooth Fairy Tooth Powder

I’m a real sucker for Lush’s weird and wonderful products, especially when it comes to toothpaste alternatives. Tooth Fairy is a strawberry flavoured dream alternative to that yucky minty aftertaste mixed with your morning juice. It seems super weird the first few times you use it, but its great for popping into my gym bag or hand luggage!

Amazing people of January

Shoutout to some of the beautiful people that have made this month even more special:

  • Mitchell – for making my DLP trip full of fun
  • Cara – for being a strong and sassypants beauty
  • Amy – literally so happy to have finally met this wonderful woman in person
  • Nancy – for talking a Cast Member into letting me into the Big Thunder Mountain Fastpass line

How’s your January been?

December Favourites

December Favourites

The last month of the year is almost over, and I think we’re all welcoming 2017 with open arms, but before we do, I’m gonna sneak in a last bit positivity with my final favourites of 2016.

Lush Fairy Dust

I bought a bottle of Fairy Dust way back in October when the Christmas range was first released, but its only really become part of my daily routine in the last month or so and I’ve loved experimenting with different ways to use it, including as a dry shampoo, and also mixing it with my face powder to make myself sparkle!

DisneyLife

I teamed up with the guys over at DisneyLife UK to offer readers a free 7 day trial of the programme, which I also signed myself up for and I’ve been filling my free time with some of my favourite live action movies and the Disney Channel Originals from my childhood.

Star Wars hype

Not even ashamed to admit to the fact that I’ve seen Rogue One in the cinema twice already, and its not even been out for two weeks. As well as the film being totally amazing, I just love the atmosphere and hype when a new SW film comes out – suddenly the whole world becomes obsessed and its great!

Copper lights

Gave into my basic blogger instincts when I found these copper lights in Asda for £5, and you’ve probably seen them in every blog and Instagram photo since. I have no shame, and I think they’ve added a little something extra to my blogography.

Fitbit Charge 2

Almost a year after I killed my Fitbit Zip in the washing machine, I treated myself to the Charge 2. It does everything I need it to as a fitness tracker, but I’m also finding my sleep habits super interesting and the silent alarms and guided breathing sessions are fab.

Another year done, and tomorrow I’ll be looking back on some of the incredible things I’ve been lucky enough to do this year, so stay tuned!

November Favourites

Happy end of November everyone! How’s it been for everyone?

Its been a little up and down for me, but let’s look at the ups, and the things I’ve been loving this month!

November Favourites

Sewing

I dusted off my sewing machine, after about a year of it being on the floor by my desk, so I could get started on costume making for next year’s races, and two costumes and a bunch of other creations later I’m loving it again! Its made me so happy to get creative again.

Iconic Matte Lipstick

I recently bought Makeup Revolution’s Iconic Matte lipstick in shade Inspiration, and its fast becoming my favourite nude lipstick – long lasting, not drying and the packaging is rose gold perfection!

Moana

My Moana hype is still going strong! From the release of the Alessia Cara version of How Far I’ll Go at the start of the month, to the tsum tsum release and seeing a preview of the film just over a week ago, its been so exciting and I can’t wait to see it again in the cinema this week!

Oh Boy! collection

I dropped a new collection on The Happiest Fitness Co to celebrate the birthday of Mickey Mouse, check it out here!

Blog Love

Here’s a few blog posts that I’ve enjoyed recently, give them a read:

October Favourites!

Happy Halloween everyone! As of tomorrow the world will be ditching it’s pumpkins and donning its Santa hats as we head towards my favourite time of year! Yes November is way too early to be thinking about Christmas, but its undeniable folks..

But what have I been loving this month?

October Favourites

Ready, Steady, Glow by Madeleine Shaw

I bought this cookbook months ago, but have only really just had a chance to have a proper look at it in the last few weeks. Its packed of amazing recipes, all really fresh and healthy and easy to prepare, and I can see myself reaching for it more and more going into the colder months.

Lush Autumn Leaf bath bomb

This month has been very Lush-y, but while I’m still a little disappointed about not getting the job I interviewed for, my huge Lush haul made me so much happier, especially this beautiful autumn bath bomb! Super super pretty and relaxing, oh so relaxing..

Podcasts

I have featured in not one, but two podcasts this month! Ok, so one was just a tweet of mine that got mentioned on The Florida Project podcast (still counts though!), but more importantly I sat in the DLP Hot Seat! I had the most fun recording with Mitch, and you can listen to it here!

Hula-hooping

Yes, actual hula-hooping.. Having never been able to hula-hoop, I was curious when I came across weighted hula-hoops on Amazon to see if I would stand any better chance with a heftier hoop, and guess what.. I CAN DO IT! I have suddenly become a hula-hooping sensation, and its a pretty killer workout actually.

Disney trip updates

So I’m really excited to tell you all that Sarah and I are extended our WDW trip in February by a day for very exciting reasons! I’ve also finally booked my flights for Feb, and I’ve passed the 200 day mark to my trip to Disneyland in May, eek!

September Favourites and Highlights!

Well that’s another month gone – another month closer to Christmas! What have I been loving this month?

Boyfriend time

Of course the ultimate highlight of this month was my trip to New Zealand to spend a week with my boyfriend. I had the most incredible time going on adventures with him, including a trip to Hobbiton, visiting penguins and racing down the Rotorua luge, and I also got to have a little look round where he’s living and training at the moment which was really nice.

Reading magazines

I basically never buy magazines, but when faced with the prospect of 24 hours of flying at the start of the month, I treated myself to a few from the airport WHSmiths, and while I still don’t think I’ll be making this a regular thing, its been nice to have casual reading material.

Cartier La Panthere

I know I said in my Girl Fails post that I never buy perfume, but I got a sample of this with a Feel Unique order and absolutely fell in love with it, so I found myself buying a full sized bottle without much thought. Its so dreamy!

DLP Hot Seat is returning!

One of my favourite Disneyland Paris podcasts is making its return, yay! Mitch is a great friend of mine and super funny and I can’t wait to get listening, plus I may or may not be featuring on an upcoming broadcast..

Redbubble A-Line dresses

I’d be saving for a little while after becoming obsessed with an Its a Small World design, and now its finally mine and I’m so happy with it! Stay tuned for an outfit post!

RunDisney registration

Its probably no shock that I’ve registered for another RunDisney event for next year – I mean, I did announce earlier in the year that I’d be looking to sign up for this one – but knowing I’m successfully entered for the Pixie Dust Challenge at the Tinkerbell Weekend in Disneyland for my trip in May next year is a big weight off my chest!

August Highlights!

This is my 500th post, eek!

Another month, another favourites post! As per usual, I’m not sure where the month has gone – August has really been a bit of an odd month for me, stuck between post-holiday blues and looking forward to my trip next month, and I’ve spent most of my time at work so everything else has taken a bit of a backseat.. That said, this month has had its highlights!

August Highlights

Time with my girls

A semi spur of the moment trip to the beach with two of my best friends was exactly what I needed this month; sun, sea, food and Disney talk was what the doctor ordered.

Finding Dory

The long-awaited Pixar sequel really hit the spot! I LOVED IT.

Poprageous sample sale scores

I’ve been kinda obsessed with Poprageous ever since I discovered the brand and placed my first order a few month ago, so when they announced that they’d be selling off some of their samples and old stock on Depop I was determined to get something good. I missed out on the first few good’uns, but finally got some incredible Captain America leggings and a Pacman swimsuit – both total bargains!

Depop sales

I’ve made an attempt this month to declutter a little, and have managed to sell a load of stuff through Depop to make some money back! I’ve still got loads going if anyone’s interested, my username is lottiem94 🙂

Disney planning!

Everyone knows that Disney planning brings me a lot of joy, and this month as well as booking ADRs for my Disney World trip in February, I’ve been deciding outfits for Disneyland Paris in September, and starting to think about outfits for my trips next year!

How was August for you?

July Favourites

It feels a bit strange writing a monthly favourites post, when I’ve actually spent the majority of the month out of the country, but actually there have been some things that have really stood out as superstars this month, both on my travels and at home!

July Favourites

Sweaty Betty New Balance Vazees

When I saw that two of my favourite fitness brands, Sweaty Betty and New Balance were collaborating on a trainer, I instantly fell in love with their creation. I talked myself out of buying them for a while, but when raiding the SB sale I decided that I would bite the bullet and buy them, and THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE! I’d never run in them because I’m quite picky about my running shoes, but they’re great for the gym and I wore them for the majority of my trip to China because they are so lightweight and beautiful. Definitely worth the purchase!

Mitchum deodorant

So I fell pray to TV advertising.. I wanted to know if it was as good as the advert made it sound, and while I don’t want to be crude, we all sweat guys and there’s nothing wrong with that, but you don’t need to smell. It claims 48 hour protection, and I was so impressed finding that even after 24 hours solid travelling (I’m talking stuffy planes, trains etc) I didn’t feel at all sticky or smell of anything. Also the fragrances are great and not overwhelming like some deodorants can be!

Feel Unique Pick’n’mix

Um, did you know you can try 5 products a month FOR FREE from Feel Unique?! Well, you pay £3.95 for postage, but that comes back to you in the form of a voucher to redeem against a future purchase if you fall in love with the products. I got my hands on a sample of Benefit’s Ka Brow! and a few other cool bits that looked worth a try – I can’t wait to do it again!

Primark scented candles

I went into Primark to pick up some last minute holiday bits, and saw these pink grapefruit tealights on the checkout for something crazy like £1! They smell great and last a good long while; you can’t really go too wrong with tealights but these were better than I thought they would be.

Nyx Euro Trash lipstick

I’m obsessed with this shade! Its perfect for everyday wear and there’s just nothing like a matte lipstick in my opinion, plus its cruelty free!

June Monthly Favourites!

You know those insanely busy months were you get to the 20-something-th and are suddenly massively shocked by the date? Yep. June. BUTTT its time for some of my favourite things this month!

June Monthly Favourites

Beautiful Brows

June has really been the best month for my eyebrows. Remember I did a big Makeup Revolution shop at the end of May? Well the Ultra Brow palette has become my best friend! I still don’t know if what I’m doing would be considered as correct, but I look good and feel good and that’s basically pretty cool by me.

Frying Pan 5K Medal

If you haven’t heard me harping on about The Happiest Fitness Co’s first virtual race enough, the medals arrived a few weeks ago and I genuinely squealed when I opened the box to discover just how perfect they are! If you’re interested, its raising money for The Rainbow Trust children’s charity, and you can enter here!

New Mickey Ears

I’ve been very restrained this year in my buying of ears this year, having come back from WDW in January with 4 new pairs, but I did get two new pairs this month: the prettiest floral crown pair and the cutest It’s a Small World pair!

#GGMovieNight

I missed the first Girl Gang Movie Night due to being on a coach home from London, so I was so excited to not only be able to take part in this month’s, but also for it to be one of my favourite chick flicks: Clueless!

Ditching the old and embracing new

This month I decided to say goodbye to my weekly Friday Favourite Fives series and bring in a few different posts, like bringing back my pre-Disney trip outfit posts and having a bit of fun with more confessions!

Amazing friends

My friends have been so great this month. I kicked off the month with a day trip to London to hang out with some of my favourite girls, and say goodbye to Milly before she leaves for her amazing adventure in Florida; window shopping and food with them was just what I needed.

I’ve also loved listening back to episodes of the DLP Hot Seat podcast, presented by Mitch, who I met for the first time back in April and is one of the funniest guys I know!

So that’s June over and done with, and with July looking to be a very exciting month, I can’t wait!

May Monthly Favourites

Another month has gone, and we’re already almost halfway through 2016. I can’t even..

So something I’ve really loved this month has been sharing love, whether it be retweeting a blog post I enjoyed, helping a friend reach a follower goal or just throwing compliments around like confetti, it gives me warm and fuzzies, and on that note, I thought I’d start sharing some of my favourite things each month!

May Monthly Favourites

Blog Loving

First up, I’ve really been enjoying reading more fitness blog posts, including 10 Things Only Fitness Fatties Will Understand from My Healthy Curves, and pretty much everything that Hello, Steph posts. You go girlies!

My lovely advertiser Sam from Made From Beauty has the prettiest Instagram – I’m talking major goals right there – and I’m shamelessly re-watching all of Milly’s vlogs because I’m gonna miss her loads when she leaves for WDW at the end of next month, waa! And speaking of Disney, Amy’s Club Villain review has actually got me considering changing my firm anti-villain beliefs..

I’m really just loving the whole community right now, from the #disneybloggerschat on Thursday nights to the amount of love being spread on #FF Fridays. Bloggers rock y’all.

Pinterest

I used to pin fairly religiously, but it kinda went on the back burner a little while ago, so I’m really happy to be getting back into it now. I’m especially loving some of my new boards, Pastel Dreams and Summer Vibes, and of course I’m crazy excited to be adding things to my sister’s Wedding Planning board; if you didn’t already know, she’s just got engaged!

Body Confidence

I’m still not exactly where I was planning on being in terms of fitness and bikini-readiness, especially after a bit of a break at the beginning of the year and a few naughty weeks, but I’m actually finding my confidence again; wearing crop tops to the gym, more Snapchat selfies (sorry not sorry) and just generally feeling happier in my own skin!

Grey T-shirts

I’m never really much of a t-shirt wearer, but I got two of the cutest logo tees from H&M and I’m obsessed with both of them!

Holiday Planning

For me, the only thing more exciting than a Disney holiday is planning one, and I’ve got at least three coming up, eek!

Bullet Journalling

In an attempt to organise my fitness training, I decided to join this bullet journal craze with a Leuchtturm 1917, and while I’m not entirely on top of it just yet (I’ve yet to add any washi tape!), I’m pretty excited to really get into it.

Spring Favourites

In my almost 3 years of blogging (WHAT?!), I don’t think I’ve actually done a ‘favourites’ post!

So although the weather still hasn’t completely decided its spring yet, the brighter mornings and occasional blue skies and sunshine has got me feeling like we might just be going in the right direction towards summer, and there are a few things I’m loving right now, so I’m gonna share them!

Spring Favourites

Hollister lace skirt – I’m rarely one for brands like Hollister, but I stumbled across this little beauty on Asos and I’m so glad I did! The lace is so pretty, and it looks cute with or without tights making it perfect for the changing Spring temperatures.

Tone It Up mini resistance bands – you may have seen these in the set I featured in my fitness wishlist last month, and seeing as I caved and bought it, I’ve been loving everything about these, from the colour to the ease of adding them to my workouts!

MAC x Ellie Goulding lipstick in Without Your Love – remember how excited I was with my MAC Ellie Gouling haul back in January? Well I’m still just as in love with it now I was I was back then, and I’m really feeling this shade right now!

The Fitness Marshall – if you haven’t already seen one of these amazing dance workout videos on Youtube, check them out now. Ah-MAY-zing!

Nikki McWilliams custard cream purse – I bought this back in January, buts its now, when I want to use my cute little handbags that are too small for my big purse, that its really coming into its own.

The Comforter shower gel – I always feel a little late to the Lush party, and right now with our bathroom under refurb I’m pretty limited in my product usage, but I bought a bottle of this back in February and I’m only just getting round to using it! Its purply-pink, glittery and smells AMAZING, and foams up into pink bubbly goodness, yay!
