A Pre-Summer Pastel Mermaid Haul

While it may seem a little overplayed at times (I’m looking at you, Primark), I’m still a real sucker for the mermaid style trend.

I’m also a sucker for cute swimwear, and despite telling myself that this year I wasn’t going to buy anything new, I then discovered South Beach, and this beautiful pastel seashell dream of a bikini just fell into my online basket.. And so did these adorable colour block shorts.. What can I say, I’m weak.

The bikini is just the prettiest and really great quality for a really reasonable price, although I’d recommend sizing up if you tend to fall between sizes, or if you’re a little larger up top, just to be on the safe side! I’m generally a size 10, but my B/C cup boobs only really fit in once I took out the removable padding, as there was no chance they’d fit with padding in there! The shorts on the other hand are a perfect fit. The fabric is lightweight and ever so slightly stretchy which is ideal for pulling on and off down the beach or frolicking in the sun without feeling constricting, and I’m super excited to take them to Disneyland with me next month!

However, a not so accidental purchase was my GORGEOUS new yoga mat from PopFlexActive, which is the fitness brand from Blogilates founder Cassey Ho. I’ve been lusting after the Mermaid Couture mat for ages now, and I’d set it as a little reward for being good with my fitness, so with the summer approaching and to encourage myself to get back into yoga going into the warmer months. I love that the mat is eco-friendly and latex free, its feels absolutely top quality and of course its such a stunning and unique design and I’ve been wanting a cute mat to replace my boring grey one for almost a year now.

Is it summer now please?

Spring Disneyland Paris Outfits

Tomorrow I am off to Disneyland Paris, eeek!!

So obviously I have to share what I’ll be wearing on this little excursion of mine, right?

Donald Duck Disneybound

First up, I’m gonna be Disneybounding as my favourite duck in this white midi from Asos and blue crop top. The ears were made by the lovely Maggie from Elephant and Mouse, and are inspired by Philharmagic Donald, and they’re so fluffy!! I’ve also added a little extra touch of Donald with my mini bow from Mickey Waffles!

Mermaid Princess

I’m also going to be twirling around the parks as a mermaid princess in this amazing tulle skirt! The seashell crop top was on I snagged in the Missguided sale last year and I love it; I actually love everything about this outfit!

If you’re going to be in the parks Thursday-Friday, now you know what to look for!

Sea Foam Marshmallows

One of my favourite sweet treats to make (and eat!) is marshmallows. Most people don’t believe you can make marshmallows yourself, let alone how easy they are, so I’m going to share, with a mermaidy twist!

SONY DSC

You’ll need: 450g caster sugar, 9 gelatine leaves, 2 eggs, water, 2 tbsp golden syrup or glucose syrup, and a candy thermometer as well.

First of all, get your gelatine soaking in 140ml water.

SONY DSC

Mix together the sugar and golden syrup with 200ml water in a saucepan, and start boiling, with the candy thermometer. You don’t need to stir the mix at all.

SONY DSC

Separate your eggs, you only need the whites. Whisk them until soft peaks form.

SONY DSC

Once the sugar mix hits 127°C, take it off the heat and add the gelatine, water and all.  Stir, and it’ll bubble up a lot at this point, and its really hot, so watch out!

SONY DSC

Slowly pour the sugar/gelatine mix into the egg whites, with the mixer running.

SONY DSC

Turn the speed up, and it’ll take about 9-10 minutes for your marshmallow to fluff up.

SONY DSC

This is when your imagination can take over! I coloured some of my mixture a pale blue/green, and some purple..

SONY DSC

In a square cake tin, I layered blue, then purple to create multicoloured cubes.

SONY DSC

I used a madeleine mould to create these cute shells..

SONY DSC

And piped the rest of the mix into shell shapes..

SONY DSC

Marshmallows take an hour or two to set, and you can dust them with icing sugar to prevent stickiness once you’re done.

They keep really well in sealed bags or jars, and make for a perfect hot chocolate topping!

Sea Shell DIY

In keeping with this week’s Little Mermaid theme, I’ve been crafting away with sea shells.

Shells are a great craft supply; if you live near a beach, you’ve basically got a free supply right there and a lot of fancier seafood you can buy from the supermarket comes with shells now too. Cleaning them up is easy enough with hot soapy water in the sink, but you can also put them in the dishwasher too!

So here are just a few quick little DIYs to add a little under the sea to your home!

First of all, you could spray paint them..

Or turn them into cute hair accessories..

Or miniature trinket boxes..

SONY DSC

Or fill a decorative vase..

SONY DSC

Or make into cute little tealights..

SONY DSC

And large shells would make a great jewellery dish..

SONY DSC

Or key dish..

SONY DSC

Or even a soap disc..

My Fantasy Mermaid Wardrobe

Now if there’s a Disney princess that’s had the biggest impact on women’s fashion, its Ariel. Since she hit the scene, girls all over the world have been snapping up mermaid inspired clothing and accessories, and I’m not above following this trend!

I couldn’t resist this clam bra crop top from Lookhuman when I stumbled across it last year, and this year I’m looking to add to my wardrobe, so I’ve been doing a little window shopping online and putting together a Fantasy Wardrobe, if you will, starting off with killer swimsuits..

Mermaid swimsuit

Left to right – Baby Ariel Top and Scalloped Bottoms from Margarita Swimwear, Kalama One Piece from PeaceofParadise, Dreamboat Bikini from Margarita Swimwear

So I discovered Margarita Swimwear this week, and I think I’ve become addicted. I entered their Instagram giveaway competition and didn’t win, but they’re giving away discount codes to everyone who entered so I’m super excited to receive mine! This year I’m trying really hard to eat healthier and along with my running training I’m hoping that this will be the year I lose enough weight to be truly happy in a bikini, and these suits are my goal!

Mermemerald leggings from Black Milk Clothing

I love Black Milk, they just do everything perfectly. If I could afford it, I would literally own everything from their Disney collection, but for now I think I’ll just covet these great leggings.

CORAL Urban Mermaid Crop Top

Coral Urban Mermaid Crop Top from Adorkable Apparel

I know I already have a similar top, but you can never really have too many clam bras?! I love the colour, coral is very mermaid-y, and the t-shirt style makes it perfect as a beach cover up.

Guess I better start saving if this wardrobe is ever gonna happen!
